Advantages: Highly adjustable, sturdy, integrated sound
Disadvantages: Display resolution, the price tag
What a shock! I have been using one of these at my office for the past few months, thinking it was just an average work screen which had been knocking about for a few years before it arrived on my desk. It was only when I thought to review this screen that I found out its price. At over £400, I would have hoped for a lot more!
Display
The display quality is good, but not great. Text and pictures appear fine, but to my eyes the images are not sufficiently crisp. This is especially so when considering that there are consumer monitors on the market for a fraction of the price and offering much better definition. I must say that this monitor does perform well under a variety of light conditions, including where there is direct sunlight behind you.
There are many adjustment options for this monitor, including a "text" mode, in which the colour and contrast changes so that the screen is optimised for reading text. This is obviously an excellent feature for those who have to work with documents on-screen for long periods.
Sound
A nice feature is that the monitor is a fairly slim flatscreen which contains concealed speakers that produce decent sound, which is certainly sufficient for watching online video clips, but not up to delivering a feature film. There are volume adjustment buttons on the monitor, which means you do not need to use your mouse to change the computer sound settings each time you play audio.
Adjustability
The adjustability features with this monitor are comprehensive. Not only does Eizo cover sound and display, but also the monitor's physical attributes. The height of the screen can be very easily adjusted by simply sliding it up or down on its sturdy base and when you let go, it will stay at that position. The monitor angle can also be tilted up or down and, indeed, the entire screen can be rotated 90 degrees for a portrait view.
Overall
Overall, this is a sturdy monitor that lasts well and can be adjusted in a variety of ways to suit the requirements of the end user. While this is of course very necessary from a health and safety at work point of view, at over £400 the shortcomings in the display sharpness and colour vibrancy simply mean that it does not seem great value for money.
Summary: While it does its job well, I'm not convinced this is value for money
