Advantages: Cheap, nice design
Disadvantages: picture could be sharper, poor sound, no HDMI input
I bought this screen around 18 months ago when my old screen broke, the main reasons i decided to get this screen were because it was very cheap (under £70) and very big (18.5") - it also looked quite nice and sleek, i had heard some good things about Hanns G as well, so purchasing this screen really was a no brainer.
Setting up was quick and painless, the screen clicked into the stand easily enough, it has 1 standard 15pin VGA input, 1 Audio jack and 1 power supply, so it took around 1 minute to set up, i turned on my computer and surely enough the screen worked as expected, however, almost immediately i noticed there was a blurriness, a slight lack of crispness which was instantly noticable, i tried altering my settings but things didn't improve, don't get me wrong, the picture is acceptable, and for £70 i wasn't expecting anything special, so i couldn't have too many complaints.
The best thing about this screen is it's design, for such a cheap model it really does have a beautiful design, it has a sleek, shiny black casing, the Hanns G branding on the bottom and a couple removable stickers on the left side, Also the stand is of a very high quality, it is move-able so you can change the angle of your screen, but it is extremely solid as well.
The speakers are average, they aren't particularly loud if you are relying on the in-built speakers as your sound output, and i would certainly recommend using separate speakers if this was being used on a daily basis, they are hidden around the back of the screen so i find the sound is aimed towards the wall/away from my ears, the sound is sometimes muffled, but again, for just £70 i wasn't expecting high quality sound.
Like i said earlier, this screen only has 1 input, (1 x VGA) it doesn't have a HDMI input, Scart Input or TV Aeriel input, this screen can not be used as a Television screen, i would of liked to have a seen 1 HDMI input but again, for just £70 i can't be to disappointed.
I should add, sometimes, the screen will take anything up to 5 minutes to actually turn on, for example, if i hooked up my Acer Netbook to the Hanns G screen using the VGA cable, it will usually take around 5 minutes for the picture to appear, i have no idea why it does this but i just thought i'd add this to my review to let people know.
So, as my title says, you get what you pay for, i am still happy with my purchase as i was looking for a cheap screen, and to be honest i only use this screen a few times a month, but for anyone who is looking for a screen to use on a daily basis, i would recommend spending an extra £30 or so, and getting a slightly better screen.
Thank you for reading my review.
