HP Pavilion F1703

This Monitor was great when i first bought it, it was fast, and high quality. The problems occured about a year after i bought it and, blackouts started happening. The thing was ok for a week or so after turning it on and off but after a couple of weeks it started happening every few minutes until it got to the point when it would never stay on for more than 2-3 seconds. I was told that this was a common problem and it was that the backlight that was gone. So why'd it happen just after my warranty expired, now i am going to have to pay >150 pounds for another 17" TFT Monitor Very annoying ...

Ok so it took me about 2 years of deliberation to take the plunge and replace my ageing 17" CRT monitor (the one I bought with my first ever proper PC after an Amstrad PC1640 - remember those?). My 17" monitor was still going strong although 'strong' was what you had to be to move the thing. I had also become rather frustrated by the fact that a good proportion of my usable desk space had been unavailable for so long and since I was about to start studying an MBA I thought desk space would need to be optimised.
