Advantages: Stunning respose time and image quality

Disadvantages: Rubbish waste of time built in speakers. No tilt function.

After struggling to read my 19" iilyama CRT which really was reaching the end of its life i decided to splash out on the ProLite E1900S. Well I say splash out, I was surprised at how cheaply I could pick this monitor up. The feature that swung it was the DVI input and I could't wait to see how that performed.

The DVI cable is NOT included so you would need to order one separately.

On connection the monitor was instantly displaying and my screen was aligned perfectly without so much as a button push.

Construction is clean and nice with a balance and style to the surround. The tiny speakers sit nicely in the frame either side of the buttons. I have never used these however. I imagine they cannot perform to well so ignored them. Five buttons complete the layout 1, down, up, 2 and power. There is also a two colour LED indicator (green and yellow).

The screen is flawless, no reflection at all and no dead pixels when run with an industry tester. Viewing angle is also excellent with the angle required for degradation horizontally greater then you would comfortably view anyway. I have noticed a slight degradation in image when slouched in my chair and sadly there is no way of adjusting the units tilt. Such a large oversight in an otherwise perfect unit.

I decided to put the screen through its paces and ran around in Half Life 2 for a bit. Then after a while I put my eyes back in. Seriously with a 2ms response time it is seriously beyond my system to even strain this one.

The unit is fitted with a standard mount so the provided stand could be replace and it also comes with a VGA input for these older graphic cards (DVI does kick it all over the shop though).

The screen comes with all the built in image adjustments you would expect however high end trims like pixel timings are not available. To be honest who would know what to do with them if they were?

Summary: A fantastic monitor and way ahead in its price group.
