Advantages: Sleek and very high quality picture and built quality.
Disadvantages: Base doesn't allow you to angle the monitor.
I was looking for a decent quality and widescreen LCD monitor and initially looked around at brands like Samsung etc.
I've been aware of LG for a while and I think that they have now established themselves as a quality brand to be compared to the long standing household names.
This was confirmed to me when I connect this monitor to my computer. I was blown away by the quality, brightness and clarity. It took some getting used to having so much desktop space to use, but that's a good thing.
All of a sudden I can run two applications and have them left and right of the screen without any trouble at all.
It has all the inputs you will need to connect your desktop or laptop, including HDMI which is what I'm using.
The monitor is glossy black and is very stylish and sleek. The build quality is on par with a brand like Sony. It oozes quality and style, not cheap and cheerful. It's also very thin depth-wise so can be wall mounted if you buy a bracket for it.
So, if you're in the market for a quality monitor at a decent price, you won't go wrong buying this. The refresh rate, contrast ratio, resolution and pixel size is excellent for watching movies, playing games, general use or other uses such as video editing. You can also change so a wide range of settings so that it will cater for anyone who likes to customise their colour balance or brightness / contrast etc.
The menu system is easy and straight forward as well, however you can just plug and play straight out of the box and most people won't need change any settings at all. I edit video and so I just tweaked the contrast and brightness a little to properly match the end results when burning to DVD or whatever. I found the monitor was displaying a tad too bright.
That is just fine for home use, as you want it clear and bright - but for specialist use, you just make the changes you need.
Overall I have been very impressed with this monitor and puts, in my opinion, LG up there with other high quality brands such as Samsung or Sony.
Summary: Good performer, highly recommended.
