I've been using my W2261VP for nearly two years and I'm really happy with it.
Very easy to assemble out of the box, you just have to secure the stand with a bolt and you're ready to plug it in. Made of shiny black plastic, this monitor has a good design and fits in well with the rest of my black hardware.
The usual display connection options are available - VGA, HDMI and DVI. I've only been using the HDMI input with a Radeon 5770 video card and the monitor represents colour and line quality accurately when I compare it with a CAD drawing I get out of the printer.
It's also a pleasure for gaming, many games support the maxiumum resolution of this monitor and I've spent many a happy hour blasting away. My LG sees about 10-12 hours use per week for work and recreation and has yet to show a single dead pixel or discoloured element. I think this is worth mentioning as monitors from other manufacturers I have used haven't lasted as long without deteriorating.
If I have to mention drawbacks the stand is made out of a slightly brittle plastic and the on/off switch, although a great design feature seems a little brittle as well. They're both still unbroken though, so perhaps it's my own heavy-handedness. I would recommend getting some proper monitor cleaning products as well otherwise you'll smear the screen.
This is the first LG product I've used and I would recommend them to anyone. Apart from the stand the build quality is great. If you can afford it, buy this monitor!
When I saw this monitor and the specifications, I thought: "Wow." It seemed too good to be true, but after a bit of research (reading reviews and asking a friend who had a similar model) it seemed like this was as good as it's specification list.
Although the monitor is listed as 22", it is in fact 21.5" due to being full HD. However, that is not a problem. The screen is large and a resolution of 1920x1080 is great for working on multiple documents, graphics or video.
On receipt, I immediately unpacked and connected it to my laptop's HDMI port (the monitor also has VGA and DVI). The display quality is very impressive. No dead pixels. Great colours. A very clear display. The on screen settings (located on the left hand side) are easy to use and provide some interesting effects (such as sepia and monochrome).
What a difference it made going from a 720p display to 1080p.
The monitor is a gloss piano black, so be warned that you will need to dust it regularly as it shows up very well.
One slight downside (and it might have just been the monitor I received) is that it does not tilt. It appears that it should (and so the documentation states), but I could not get it to (and did not want to force it).
However, the quality of the monitor is so great that I did not want to be without it for even a day, never mind how long a replacement would take to arrange.
At the price and screen quality, you can't go wrong.
If your in the market for a new monitor like I was about 12 months ago, then you really owe it to yourself to check out the LG Flatron W2261VP.
It's a high resolution, true 16:9 widescreen HD monitor for your PC. Basically it does what it says on the tin. There are a lot of monitors that tell you that they are just what your looking for, but this really is. I know I sound like an LG fan-boy but I just really like this monitor. When other people see it they comment on how sleek it looks and how clear the images are.
So what are those all-important specifications you need to know about?
The technical bit:
2ms Response Time
50000:1 Dynamic Digital Fine Contrast Ratio
16:9 Aspect Ratio
4:3 In Wide Support (for viewing things not ment for widescreen)
Full HD Monitor
The main things that I use my PC for are playing games, surfing the internet and working with MS Office. This works perfectly with all of them.
I experience NO "ghosting" with fast moving images thanks to the fast 2ms response time. My DVD's and iTunes HD videos look absolutely jaw dropping thanks to the 1080 HD goodness and true 16:9 support. It's also perfectly suited to the new Windows 7 snap feature, I can quite happily snap 2 documents to either side of the screen for comparison. This also works well with internet browsers and is all thanks to the full widescreen support.
Who should buy this monitor? Anybody who wants a quality bit of kit for under £150. The only concern that I had when buying this monitor was that it wouldn't cope with fast FPS video games. I didn't need to worry, the monitor has dealt with every variety of game that I have thrown its way. I couldn't be happier.
Outstanding bit of kit.
This is the best monitor that I have ever owned (and my last one was a Sony). Its high resolution display is clean and crisp. It's excellent for working as everything is vibrant and clear, its also amazing for playing the latest games. I can't recommend this monitor enough, it really is spot-on.
Outstanding value for money.
