Advantages: Modern sleek neutral design, 24-Bit colour mode, 15 " 1024 x 768 display, Price

Disadvantages: Doesn't match up to the levels of today's market monitors.

A few years back i was looking around for a new monitor to use as part of a duel screen set up. However i wanted something that would be good quality and as it was going to be my first use of duel screens i wanted something fairly cheap but with good image quality. Whilst looking around online I found the NEC Multisync LCD1550V.

Upon un-boxing the NEC Multisync is secured in a foam mould to avoid damage and movement, and secured in bubble wrap to protect the screen its self.

After removing it from its packaging, you can see it has a 15" 1024 x 768 display size with a 24-bit colour support (16.7 million colours). The measured size of this monitor is 34.5cm x 35.2cm x 16.4cm. The image aspect ratio of this monitor is 4:3 with a 30 ms response time.

The monitor runs on a AC 100/240 V (50/60 Hz) power adaptor and uses a minimal amount of power consumption at only 20 Watts.

The monitor colour comes in white, making this a nice addition for Mac users, however this monitor was designed to be used in small officers, businesses and homes. The white coloured casing for the monitor provides a light, neutral design for the user and gives a brightening to the placement it's used in.

The 1024 x 768 resolution size gives a large display to view your documents and programs. Also with its 24-bit display it defines a high quality image display for its release year.

It also has the ability to change settings and sound levels by using the buttons located on the front of the monitor. These settings are in English and do include a minor selection of other languages available. These settings allow you to change resolution size, brightness and contrast settings and other features.

In my opinion this is a very high class monitor which can now be picked up online for around the £30 - £50 mark. It has an amazing display size for when it was released and has a 24-bit colour mode with a 30 ms response time giving out standing images without problem. An all round good monitor for home and work use; recommended but doesn't live up to today's market monitors.

Summary: Good quality display with an amazing price, but does it match up to today's market??
