Advantages: Image quality, resolution, response time
Disadvantages: Annoying standby light, pointless swivel feature
Offering a high resolution of 1680x1050 at 60hz this 20" flat screen TFT monitor offers a lot at a relatively inexpensive price.
When comparing this monitor with others in the same price range it trumps others easily. Firstly, it offers support for DVI and HDMI interfaces, both offering much improved performance over VGA.
Being a 'gamer' I needed a screen with a high resolution and fast response time, this TFT offers both. Response time here is 2ms, which is extremely fast when compared to monitors in the same price range.
The monitor also offers a wide range of options and calibration settings allowing you to explore and change them to suit your environment. The monitor, like all does not switch off when you turn off your PC rather it goes into standby mode and a blue light flashes at the bottom to indicate this. This was in fact a gripe for me as this blue light proved very annoying at night in my bedroom, thought, there is a physical switch and you are able to completely switch it off it would have been nice if this option could be achieved automatically.
The screen is finished in Samsung's signature piano black gloss effect. The buttons are all hidden behind a clear strip of plastic at the bottom, all in all it looks very sleek and professional, defiantly doesn't look cheap like some on the market.
The base incorporates a swivel but isn't overly useful and could be improved.
Overall, a well put together product, nice visual appeal good resolution and response time with a wide range of features, all at a good price.
Summary: a well put together product, nice visual appeal good resolution and response time...
