Advantages: Good image, great viewing angle
Disadvantages: No wall mounting
I paid £159 for this 22" widescreen monitor from Samsung. The 2232BW looks absolutely superb in its glossy black finish. It really looks like one of their bigger LCD televisions (which I also own), so buying one for my computer was an easy choice to make.
The resolution of 1680 x 1050 is ideal, as it matches my iMac display, which this monitor sits next to. The brightness is 300cd/m, you can get higher, but this is OK. 320-340 is what I call paper white, so this is a little off-white, but plenty bright enough. The contrast of 1000:1 is also pretty good. When I watch the occasional movie you can see that blacks and very deep whilst still retaining some good detail.
The response time is quoted as 2ms (GTG). This is how fast the pixels respond to changes. So for fast action sports and games this is essential. I have seen no smearing of graphics at all, so pleased on this front too. The viewing angle (Horizontal/Vertical) is quoted at 170˚/170˚ which is also very good. If my kids sit to one side of the screen watching something with me, they can see the colours accurately, so tops marks here.
There is both an analog input (D-SUB) and a digital (DVI-D) input. I use the latter and get a crisp, colourful image. Colours seem very true and I have calibrated it via software, and the difference from when it comes out of the box is amazing, so well worth doing this if you can.
Sizes (from the Samsung website)
(With stand, WxHxD) 517 x 419 x 210mm
(Without Stand, WxHxD) 517 x 372 x 70mm
Product Weight 4.95kg
Why you would remove the stand I do not know, as you cannot mount this on the wall. Other than that it is a very good monitor for a very reasonable price.
Summary: A very good monitor for a very reasonable price
