23" widescreen flatscreen lcd monitor for a great price. It was a lot to ask for a year ago, even today you are looking at spending a fair bit of money to buy an lcd witha quality feel about it like this one. I decided to buy this monitor to hang on my living room wall, I did not want an over powering 50" beast of a tv on my wall, as that looks hideous, I wanted something with flair, understated, compact in dimensions and provided a great high contrast image under day light conditions. This monitor fitted the bill.
at 23" it is not on the small side when it comes to computer monitors, but it was ideal as a wall mount tv screen.
I have a small compact desktop pc which I have hooked up with the screen and it is also discreet, small, compact, and most importantly quiet. as if you are watching a quiet scene in a hd film the last thing you want is a blaring fan whirring away in the background!
I can watch tv on it, play the latest pc game, answer my e-mails, work on my short story and surf the web all at the same time, and all from the comfort of my sofa.
the resolution is perfect for hd movies, link it up with a home cinema sound system and the effect is astounding.
It is not tiring on your eyes and the sleek glossy design frame complimented my home interior.
The monitor was surprisingly easy to convert into a wall mountable lcd.
however the wall mount bracket was not included. you get a standard desktop mount like the one in the pic, although I liked the fact that this was a swivel base, so you could turn it around with ease, unlike some monitors which are on fixed base stands.
the menu screens are easily accessable using the sleek hidden menu buttons on the front underside of the frame.
for added effect I managed to hide the cables around the back of the screen by fitting them into some trunking which I painted the same colour as the wall. so these were perfectly hidden, the screen looks great!
the lcd won't work very well as a wall mount lcd if you have a large room. I have a small living room and this is why I prefered a 23" lcd rather than a huge 50" screen which would be too overpowering, it would also give you a headache if you watched more than an hour of tv on it.
overall a great looking monitor which would not look out of place as a wall mountable hd lcd tv screen if you have a small living / front room.
When it comes to TFT Samsung give you top notch gear at a great price.
I've had this monitor for two years now and haven't looked to replace it.
The display quality is excellent, and the variety of settings and simple configuration mean you'll always have it looking the way you want it to.
The build quality is superb for the money, and it certainly looks the part.
Both digital and VGA inputs can be used simultaneously, and switched from the monitor's menu screen. (Handy if you have two devices, say a laptop and a desktop.)
The 3000:1 contrast ratio is a bit of a cheat. It simply computes the brightness and contrast dynamically to give an "effective" contrast ratio of 3000:1, still the effect is good. However, it's only really effective in this mode when used correctly (make sure you use the manual.)
Colour, brightness, bleeding... all well and truly under control to give you stunning picture quality. This is as good as you'll get until the OLED displays eventually take over.
Finally Samsung's NO dead pixel policy means you get the fault free monitor you deserve! Without the risk! (NB: You should check this in case it changes, thought I doubt it will.)
So what are you waiting for?
No hassle to get working, screw it to the stand and plug it in. The specs say it all really, 1600x1050 resolution, 5ms response time. Nice and bright, no dead pixels (in mine).
VGA and DVI inputs let you connect a PC and an xbox360, and switch between at the press of a button (something I find very useful anyhow).
If you use a resolution not native to the monitor (1600x1200 im using), a box pops up every time you come out of a full screen application, and only goes away when you press a button on the monitor. This can get quite annoying if you have to do it regularly.
Swivels easily, however I havn't been able to tilt mine, and I don't want to force it as I didnt see mention of a tilt function anywhere. Thankfully mines at the right height and the viewing angles are good anyway.
Ahh one of my favourite TFT monitors so far! At first i started receiving horrible lines that would constantly trail downwards!!! This was very off putting as i couldn't watch tv, or use the computer on it without receiving a horrible headache!!! But i rang samsung and they shipped me another one straight away, apparently it was just a manufacturing fault!!! My new one had a crystal clear display and i never had problems with it! It showed DVD's very well and every page was shown correctly!!! No need to install anything because as with most monitors... all you have to do is plug them in!!! Samsung have definitely produced a great TFT monitor here for anyone and everyone! You can use it as a tv stand in the kitchen or even a computer screen in your own bedroom! Its versatile, lightweight and durable!!! Easy to wipe screen also comes in handy when fingerprints mysteriously appear!!!
