Advantages: Great picture

Two things drew me to this product. One is the price and at £140 from play.com it is a reasonable price. Secondly I am a big fan of Samsung. As you can see in earlier reviews I own both a Samsung TV and a Samsung DVD player. Itseemed only right to have a monitor aswel!
I do a lot of gaming on the PC and for that I like to be closer to the screen rather than using my TV as a computer monitor. For these purposes it is ideal to have a decent monitor. This model is 19" which is slightly bigger than your average monitor (Which I would say is 17") Being 19" it is big enough to give a better piture but still retains a certain amount of compactability so that it does not take up loads of space.

The monitor has a resolution of 1280 x 1024 , which is good but pretty standard nowersays. The main thing is the response time which is 2ms. All this means is you wont experiance what is known as ghosting. The best example of this is when watching football on a LCD TV you wll sometimes see the players leave a trail if they move too fast. Thats due to a poor response time. If you are buying games then a good response time means your eyes wont go funny after extended periods of play! ... well they will go funny but not as much!
The colours as with all Samsungs are fantastic. It is really bright and everything is very clear and detailed. You could happily watch a movie on this monitor is exceptional quality.

Personally however I suggest buying a TV with a HDMI input and then using that as a computer monitor. I only suggest that if you are a casual computer user. Buy yourself a wireless mouse and keyboard and surf the net or whatever from your couch! With everything being HD crazy at the minute it may have crossed your mind to update to a LCD TV. If you do jus ask if it has a HDMI input or if it can be used as a computer monitor (most can to be honest its just better to ask!). Then you will only need a decent cable and your off. The monitor isnt very sexy looking. Thereare some gorgeous Samsung monitors out there but there isnt much point paying more for looks. If 19" seems a bit small to you then I would suggest having a look in a shop. It may suprose you but you may still prefer a 22" widescreen monitor, which I would too there just a bit expensive for a decent one :)
