The base is solid and fairly heavy, and overall it weights 3.9kg. One point of note for this model regarding the base is that there is no height adjustment, only a limited degree of tilt. I picked up this 24" monitor earlier this year to replace an aging 19" Samsung LCD. I did a fair amount of searching about various online retailers, and possible models before I decided on this one. In general I like Samsung monitors. For their price, they are always excellent quality, and preform well. I picked up one from Amazon for aprox £180, but the price can fluctuate quite a bit.
