Samsung Syncmaster P2370
by staceyspiers
Sitting in my chair looking around for more things to review, when suddenly I thought I haven't reviewed my monitor!
The samsung p2370 syncmaster is an ok screen, they don't make them anymore, and even if you could find one for sale somewhere I wouldn't recommend tracking one down.
The good:
it looks ... pretty decent, if a little cheap
the price was pretty good
The bad:
connectivity- only has one dvi input
seriously terrible build quality, don't try and adjust the stand, don't touch it, and don't move it because it will creak horribly and break extremely easily
the screen is also really bad- it's a tn panel so has all the usual tn issues such as colour shift, whites look really terrible on the screen too, like there's no contrast at all when black text is on a white background which makes it hard to use for a long time. The onscreen OSD is so unintuitive that I can't be bothered to adjust the display, I just avoid using the computer attached to this monitor.
overall this is quite a poor quality display, and as the display is so important to the enjoyment of your computer I highly recommend getting something a little better- the prices of monitors is so low now that it's foolish to get something cheap.
Not recommended for anything other than style (and I don't think it looks that good either!) Read the complete review |

Samsung Syncmaster S24A350H
by Matheson80
I picked up this 24" monitor earlier this year to replace an aging 19" Samsung LCD. I did a fair amount of searching about various online retailers, and possible models before I decided on this one. In general I like Samsung monitors. For their price, they are always excellent quality, and preform well. I picked up one from ... Amazon for aprox £180, but the price can fluctuate quite a bit. I saw the same monitor a few weeks after I got one, for £259, so shop about.
* Basic Spec *
The S24A350H is an LED backlit monitor, with a 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. A Contrast Ratio of 1000:1, and a response time of 2ms. It has 2 x HDMI & 1 x VGA connections, there is no DVI port, so beware if you have an older graphics card with no HDMI. There is no digital TV tuner.
* Aesthetics and Design *
The looks of a monitor may not be that important to everyone, but since this was for a PC in my living room, I wanted something decent looking. Thankfully, the looks of this model are quite attractive, it has a sleek, curvy organic style. It features the rose black colour scheme that many Samsung models sport these days. This means the main bezel is gloss black, with a hint of dark red around the edge. The bottom of the monitor is then finished with a clear plastic edge. Its main dimensions are 69 x 43 x 12 cm.
The base is solid and fairly heavy, and overall it weights 3.9kg. One point of note for this model regarding the base is that there is no height adjustment, only a limited degree of tilt. Thankfully for me, that was ok, as my PC desk has a raised platform for the monitor, otherwise, it may need propped up, depending on your prefered viewing height.
A slight gripe of mine about the physical side of this monitor is the touch control buttons. Call me old fashioned, but I just think physical buttons work better. First of all, its hard to see the power button, and deceptively, there is a red LED next to the button that always tricks me into thinking that it is the button!.
Also when dusting, its too easy to press a few of them by accident.
I should also note that this model did not come with any connection cables, so you will need to supply your own HDMI etc. Once it is connected, it is very easy to set up, and does not require any extra software to function.
* How does it preform? *
We use this monitor for Microsoft Office use, Gaming, as well as general internet browsing. Im no technical expert, but to me the picture is clear and sharp, and I have never experienced any type of 'ghosting' of the image whilst playing games. Colours are strong, but blacks sometimes appear a bit grey, however given the price, its very good. I have also never found any dead pixels on the screen.
It has a nice wide viewing angle, which makes it handy if it is being used to play a DVD etc, and HDMI 1080p connections give you a great picture quality.
* Worth getting ? *
The S24A350H LED is not a brand new model these days, so you may be able to pick one up for a pretty good price. If you can, then I definitely recommend it. It gives great value for money, with a crisp, clear image, and strong colours. Read the complete review |

Samsung SyncMaster S24B300BL
by neo47
Wanted to change from my CRT monitor for a long time. It was having some problems with color and brightness. After doing some Google search of Samsung monitors. I saw this model, checked the price and the specifications and also compared it with some other monitors. My target was a large sleek and slim monitor. I ultimately chose this ... product. At first I was not so sure how this monitor would perform, but after seeing it in action my doubts were dissolved. If you want a LCD monitor at an affordable price with great display, this is the right product for you.
A very good monitor if not great. Very easy to setup it took something like 15 - 20 minutes to unpack and setup and the setup was made easy by the guide which comes with it. The guide really helped getting the idea about what goes where with the help of pictures. This monitor has 1000:1 / 5000000:1 (dynamic) contrast ratio which provides a display with vivid colors. It has power saving which saves power by going to stand by/sleep mode. There are no dead pixels. The buttons on this monitor go with look of the product, they are hidden touch sensitive, which means there are no bulky buttons. I personally like touch sensitive buttons as they do not look ugly over time like the bulky ones. The model is very sleek which looks great in every environment.
The monitor has 23.6" screen size which is big and great for viewing high definition movies and playing games with detailed environment.
It also has a great viewing angle. The display looks the same when viewed from different angles, which is perfect for watching movies or playing games with friends.
I play a lot of games and this monitor gave me great gaming experience. There is no ghosting in high FPS games. I have tested it with many games and I must say the games look great.
They should have put a DVI cable there, also there is some backlight bleeding which is not generally noticeable, other than that no complaints.
Some people may think that the glossy finish will attract a lot of dirt and finger prints which looks bad, but personally I do not find these problems. As long as you keep yourself from touching the monitor unnecessarily it will look great and will require less cleaning.
Since I have not tried a LED monitor first hand I cannot say how good this monitor will perform if compared to a LED monitor. But what I learned after viewing some LED monitors is that they have less viewing angle than the LCD monitors. But when comparing with a CRT monitor it is far better in many ways like size, display, resolution support, responsive touch buttons and design.
It is recommended to people who want to upgrade their display from CRT, to gamers who want great gaming experience and also people who are searching for a monitor having a great display at affordable price. Read the complete review |
