Advantages: Sony branding, great picture, stylish looks

Disadvantages: Overpriced if bought brand new

Let me be honest the reason I bought this monitor is I got a great deal on it at www.digiuk.com. They are the official sellers of refurbished Sony monitors not only do you get a good discount, but you still get the 3 years Sony warranty!

So lets go through the official specs of this monitor:

Exceptional 15" TFT LCD display with high contrast (400:1) and brightness (300 cd/m2) LCD panel
Perfect gaming and video viewing with state of the art 200 MHz high-speed graphics processor and fast 30 ms panel response time
Dual input flexibility with DVI-D (digital) and HD15 (analog) for easy switching between multiple PCs
Advanced 3-mode digital smoothing for great images in non-native resolutions
Intelligent Auto-Adjust function for fully automatic input signal optimisation
Gamma colour controls for 'saturation-independent' luminance adjustment
Dual-pivot ergonomic stand
VESA-conform wall mountable
Kensington lock
Stereo speakers and headphone jack
ECO mode for power consumption savings
0.7 Megapixels (1024 x 768) native resolution

Well let me start by saying this monitor is a work of art. As I've often found with Sony products, yes you pay for the name but they make sure you get something that oozes style and feels solidly well built. The black finish compliments my room furniture really well and the pictures I've seen of the two tone grey finish look equally as impressive.

The monitor image is great. I had no dead pixels on my panel, the refresh rate is good enough for playing your first person shoot-em-ups on as well. It obviously doesn't have the depth of colour or the higher resolutions of a good quality CRT monitor, but this is to be expected from TFT screens. The screen is fullt adjustable and is wall moutnable (digiuk have a full range of wallmounts) The monitor also has an ECO mode which lowers the backlight, this renders the screen useless in d
aylight, but will save power during nighttime use of the monitor.

The integrated speakers are good in comparison to most TFT monitors I've seen, but they do have limited bass response, this is probably due to the small base units.

As I said earlier I got this monitor for a bargain price £230 to be exact, when it normally retails closer to £350. I'd recommend it at 5 stars at the price I paid and 4 stars if I'd had to pay full price for it.

If your paying full price, there certainly are better models out there for less money. Illyama make better 15" displays for less than £350. However I couldn't find a better model for £230

Good review. I'm interested to know how it compares price and quality wise with generic models - how much of your money pays for the name?
