Advantages: price, quality, functions
Disadvantages: none
I have recently aquired a Trust wireless design and work tablet, courtesy of my Hubby on my birthday (thankyou, hubby of mine!). I had fancied on of these for some time as I thought it would be handy for my work and to have a bit of fun with. ------------------------------- **What is it and what does it do? This handy little gadget is a piece of hardware that allows you to draw, sketch, handwrite, colour and picture edit by means of a tablet that sits on your desk.It comes with a cordless pen that you use to write onto the tablet.Whatever you have drawn on your tablet is displayed on your computor screen. It can be used for a whole multitude of things, from making little sketches to add to your emails(as I do),to photo editing, artwork or even hand writting items. I am currently using it to design small items of clothing and being able to atttach those sketches to emails. The beauty of it is that the software it utilises allows me to put fabric colour, designs and texture to the drawings. Whilst I have been playing around with it to get the feel ,I have done some supurb airbrush type pictures with great results. ------------------------------- **Ease of use. Once installed it is very easy to use.You simply pick up the pen and draw away, using the pen like a mouse to select different options for line types, colours etc. The harder you press on the tablet the darker your lines appear,so it really is just like using a pencil. However it can make you feel a little awkward to start with,as if like me you are looking at the screen rather than the tablet it can take some getting use to,and your initial attempts may be a littleclumsy. After just a couple of attempts though I found I was able to be very creative and produce very proffessional looking works. The pen will need to be calibrated for your own personal requirements, the sensitivity can be adjusted depending on the speed at which you like to
write or draw, and the pressure you use to press on the tablet can also be adjusted to suite your own needs. The tablet also has hot keys running along the top so you can quickly access certain options, such as opening files, undoing last action or saving your work. This feature can be very handy. It is ergonomically designed too,so that it is also comfortable to use. ------------------------------- **Software. The Trust tablet comes complete with software for different uses. It comes with - Pensoft (A program that recognizes handwriting) Cadix signature (A screensaver program which again recognizes handwriting) Art Dabbler (A drawing program) I have tried out each of the software programs and find that they are easy to use and cover anything I could wish to do with my tablet. ------------------------------- **Technical Specifications. Ergonomially designed tablet for drawing, handwriting, sketching, colouring and picture editing wireless 512 levels pressure sensitive 3-button pen provides all the comforts of a normal pen No external power adapter needed Works both in absolute and relative mode with high precision (3048 LPI) Easy USB connection Extended number of software included to be creative Active tablet space 4" x 3" Product size(hxwxd) 10 x 234 x 232 mm Gross weight 0.8 kg. Minimum system requirements - Pentium 166 mmx MHz CPU USB port 32 MB of system memory 50 MB of free HDD space CD-Rom drive Win 98,200,ME,XP or Mac OS9 Check on www.trust.com/12050 for latest OS support. Package contents - Design and work tablet Wireless 3-button pen Batteries (1 x AAA) Multi language quick install manual CD- Rom with drivers and software CD- Rom with Dabbler software ------------------------------- **Installation Installation is
fairly easy.Just plug into your USB port and install everything from the CD-Rom.It is self exicuting so it's very simple, just keep clicking the next button!! The only point at which you may have a problem is if you have previosly had a different make and model of tablet installed. If this has been the case then you need to make sure that you remove any old drives before you do anything,if you don't you will not be able to install your new one. ------------------------------- **Conclusion This is a great little gadget, I only wish I'd had one sooner. Even if you have no proffessional reason to aqquire one it's still well worth having because it's fun, and provides hours of creative activities. I beleive it cost in the region of £40 ,and at that price it is excellent value. So if you have a few spare pounds and like this sort of a thing then it's well worth every penny of it. It is worth bearing in mind that it may take you a few days to get used to the pen and all the facilities that come with the package. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Thanks for reading !!~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

- 18/12/03 No, Jane I haven't. Emails have been flying back and forward between myself, Dooyou and now Amazon.co.uk. Amazon say they have sent me the vouchers, but for some reason they are not reaching my email address. Seem to have reached a dead-end, so have asked them to re-send to my other address, but haven't had a response. I MIGHT get them before NEXT Christmas. LOL. Glad you got yours ok. Jules x |

- 17/12/03 Sounds tempting although I'm not sure it wouldn't just get relegated to the gadget box after a couple of months :) |
