I can only expand a little on Xlixen's review, but I add key points for would be purchasers
This was the cheapest monitor on the market at the time of purchase (September 2007) and I bought it from the oddly names www.oyyy.co.uk for £167.48 including postage.
My reason for buying was the need for a secondary monitor for AutoCAD drawing and for this it was beyond expectation. I also use it for DVD watching and it works faultlessly.
The front buttons allow the usual changes to colour, brightness and so forth. Connectivity is via both DVI and VGA which is accessible via the rear. A panel covers them which is snap-in/out removable. Although I have not attempted it, the angle is in theory adjustable via a large nut and bolt set up, although by design it will not tilt downwards.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT FOR THE PRICE, THE PICTURE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT AND THIS IS WHERE VIDEOSEVEN HAVE SPENT R&D MONEY - AT THE SACRIFICE OF BUILD QUALITY.
DOWNSIDE TO CHEAP PRICE:
I accept these considering the price;
1) The mains plug at the rear gets loose quickly and if moved can cause a disturbing electrical fizz noise as the connection becomes poor. I suggest not moving this monitor too much, specifically when plugged in.
2) This monitor does not support HDCP, this means that should you wish to buy a standalone HD DVD player and connect a HDMI to DVI adaptor to the monitor, it will not work. HD requires a form of 'handshaking' similar to that of network devices. It's basically an anti-copy facility - entirely pointless considering the mass of DVD copying software out there.
3) VideoSeven's website is very much in a junior phase and provides less information than the big manufacturers.
4) Speakers, please don't even consider using, as the quality from your mobile phone is probably superior and less tinny.
GENERAL ADVICE: It's recommended that your eye line is level with the top of the monitor.
MODERN ALTERNATIVE (as of Feb/March 2008):
CiBox C2201D 22" Widescreen TFT with DVI + HDCP - 1,000:1 - 1680 x 1050. From Amazon for £165. This has HDCP so if you're like me and don't possess a Television, you will no longer need to boot your PC to watch a movie.
Summary: If you want a monitor whether primary or secondary, this is the one 4 you (or the recommended alt.)
