Advantages: Great image quality, resolution, design and flexibilty. Anti-glare.
Disadvantages: None worth a mention.
I have been using this monitor for nearly a year now and i am very impressed with its performance. I mainly use my computer for graphic design work, but also the occasional game playing.
Firstly the design of the monitor is spectacular. It is a simple neat design, using minimal space on a desk with very good stability. It has a very thin edge to the monitor meaning it works brilliantly as a multi monitor display setup. The connections on are on the back of the monitor where there is 1 DVI port and 2 D-Sub ports. When i first setup the monitor i used the DVI connection to the computer but when i used this thin lines would appear across the screen, this didn't obstruct the view but it was distracting. After switching to the D-Sub connection the display was fine and there were no problems.
The flexibility of the VP930 is incredible and you would be very hard pushed to find a better monitor on the market. The monitor can turn on its base 270 degrees, which is easily more than most people need, and as it has an Anti-Glare finish the picture is perfect from every angle you view it at. You could shine the worlds brightest torch at this display and you wouldn't even notice the torch is there! The monitor's height is also adjustable from it literally sitting on your desk to it being raised up 6 inches. It also pans vertically to provide the best viewing position for you. A unique feature of the display is how it can be rotated to a portrait viewing position, this feature alone influenced my decision in buying it as it is a great feature to have as a graphic designer. This makes viewing portrait photos or graphics alike much better as they can fill nearly the whole screen. I have also found this feature useful for viewing and typing documents because the whole page is viewable on screen at life size for a standard A4 page. All theses design functions mean that it can easily be positioned to how you want in a matter of seconds.
At an 8ms response time this is in the league of ultra fast monitors, so there are no issues with the speed of the monitor. The contrast ratio of the monitor is top spec at 1300:1 meaning that the difference between colours is much better on this monitor than many others. The brightness - 300cd/m2 - may not be as good as many other similar priced monitors but it is still sufficient for the average users needs. On full brightness i find the monitor brighter than i need and often have it at 90% brightness.
The image quality is superb and as i use this display in conjunction with an old CRT monitor the difference between them is easily noticeable. The VP930's display is crystal clear and holds up even with fine graphic work. The resolution is as expected of a 19" monitor and works perfectly at 1280 x 1024. Colours look great and looking at photos and watching DVDs couldn't be much better.
The only complaints i have about this monitor is the lines i encountered when using the DVI connection (this may have been to do with the lead or simply my computer) and the auto rotation detection. This is featured with the Perfect Suite software that comes with the monitor and supposedly detects when the monitor is rotated either to or from portrait viewing. However i find that this can take up to 10 seconds to register which can be fairly annoying at times and so i manually change it by the simple click of a button within the software. This isn't too much of an issue though and should definitely not sway your decision.
If you are thinking of buying this monitor then i would say that just over £200 this is a superb monitor and is up there with some of the best monitors available. I would recommend this to you if you are considering purchasing your own VP930 as mine is great and i plan to buy a second in future to use as a dual display side by side with my current VP930. If you are a potential buyer than my words of advice are that you will not regret buying this monitor, but you will regret not buying this earlier.
Summary: A top notch monitor, with amazing image quality at a very reasonable price.
