Advantages: Fast refresh rate. Non-reflective screen.

Disadvantages: Expensive and lacks stand adjustment.

The Viewsonic VX is looks identical to the previous VX912 and VX924 however this is one fast monitor.

Features----

This monitor features a DVI input which produces a much crisper picture than the equivalent VGA socket. There is a VGA socket for those who have computers without DVI output.

The screen is classified as a 19" monitor and has a non-reflective coating which is excellent for office use. The colours produced aren't as vibrant as a glossy finished screen, but the disadvatage of these is that light reflects of them very easily making it very distracting to watch.

There are no speakers with this monitor, which is a good thing as built in speakers are never any good except for Windows noises.

The stand unfortunatly does not adjust very much. You can get it to tilt a little but the mechanism is very stiff and feels like it could break if forced to much. Other than that the monitor had no height or swivel adjustment - a major disappointment.

Unlike other monitors this lacks an extra USB sockets along the edge and is a bit of an inconvenience.

The monitor has a super fast refresh time of 2ms which is industry leading at the moment. This means the monitor suffers no blurs during movie and game playback and is suitable for for just those.

Colour reproduction is excellent and about the best you can get. Colours are accurate and the monitor is stated as having a 550:1 contrast ratio.

The OSD (menu) is simple to use and has plenty of pictograms which are self explanatory. This menu is controlled by four buttons along the bottom of the screen which are confusing labelled. The button labelled as '1' is enter and the button labelled as '2' is exit. Why they couldn't name it enter and exit is puzzling.

Overall the lack of stand adjustment is very disappointing. There is a small premium over this monitor and the VX924 which has a 4ms refresh rate. Both offer excellent performance but the VX924 is cheaper and the 2ms difference in refresh rate won't be noticeable at all, even when watching action movies.

Summary: Buy the VX924 and save some money. Both are identical bar a difference of 2ms in refresh rate.
