Advantages: Great comedy parts - well acted

Disadvantages: None

I had seen this show many many many years ago in Malvern starring Fraser Hines of Emmerdale farm fame. I really enjoyed it then and when I saw an advert for the play at the Lowry theatre in Salford Quays, I decided to take my wife along.

The lead was played by Martin Marquez, who plays Gino in Hotel Babylon, a show we both like (I know, I am filled with shame). The story of the show is of Bernard, a Parisian architect who has three girlfriends on the go at one time. The beauty of the system is that they are air hostesses so, through an airline timetable, he knows where each one of them is at any given time.

Inevitably, as this is a farce, his plans go awry and there are a succession of near misses and meetings as all three air hostesses end up in Paris at once.
Bernard's cousin, Robert (John Marquez - Doc Martin) is well played and he knits the show together. The three air hostesses were played by Josephine Butler (No Heroics, Sorted), Sarah Jayne Dunn (Hollyoaks, Drop Dead Gorgeous) and Thaila Zucchi (Skins, Love Soup).

The star turn though was provided by Susie Blake (Coronation Street, The Victoria Wood Show) who plays the depressive housekeeper helping Bernard keep track of all his mistresses.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening and I would heartily recommend it no matter who the cast was. Having said that, this cast was excellent and should be seen if at all possible.

I saw it years ago with Richard O'Sullivan - that dates me a bit! Susan
