Newest Review: ... a rough outline of the plot, but requests that you don't read it as the original audience wouldn't have known what the play was about in advance. I did read the outline, however, and found it helpful to keep track of what was happening. Cymbeline is quite a long play - 3 hours - which feels longer when standing, but it was well worth it and we didn't get wet as the Globe is quite well sheltered as long as you don't stand in the middle! ... more

Slightly bored on a Saturday in August - we decided to get on a train to Waterloo, walk along the Thames to the Globe and see what was on. On finding it was Cymbeline - a play I hadn't even heard of - we decided that for £5 per standing ticket we had nothing to lose (except that it was raining and the Globe is open-air!) What a great play - full of romance, intrigue, scandal, mystery, murder, and lots of laughs too! We really enjoyed it. I wouldn't want to spoil the story, but the audience gets lots of clues along the way about what is really happening, none of which are known by all the characters, so the audience stays a few steps ahead, ...
