Dirty Dancing (Musical): Disappointing Johnny (452 words)
by Genette - written on 18/09/09

My friend and I purchased tickets for the Dirty Dancing show on 16th September as a real treat for ourselves, we had been talking about it since the show opened! We sat there full of anticipation, good seats, and unusually for me at 5 feet tall, the tallest person in the theatre did not come and sit in front of me.... so my view of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dance your way to the live show (1321 words)

I was lucky enough to go and see Dirty Dancing at the weekend in the West End. It's a show I have been wanting to see for quite a while, but making the time and having the available money to see it has always been a factor. The show is rated a PG, and we wondered if this was correct having seen the film, but there was no language and the only ...  Read the complete review

very ordinary i was really disappointed - which is a shame as i was looking froward to it for a long time. no live music (except about 2 songs which were really good) lots of quiet parts and not that much of dancing..... i think it was one of the worst shows I have seen.....

First, I should say that there are some spoilers in the review, so if you're determined not to find out what happens in Dirty Dancing, don't read on! When I was growing up, Dirty Dancing was one of my absolute favourite films. It still is, in fact. It sounds (and is) incredibly cheesy but that film meant such a lot to me! It had the ...  Read the complete review

Go to see this musical without trying to compare it to the film and you will have a great time, spend the entire show comparing it to the film like the woman sitting behind me and you will not. Ever since watching Dirty Dancing I have always loved the songs, characters and storyline and so, when my mum and I booked to see the musical, I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Decent show, but could have been better... (771 words)

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting my lovely mum in London. Mama Pixis77 has a thing for theatre shows and musicals, so we bought some tickets for the Saturday afternoon performance of Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre. Whilst i'd much rather watch a stage adaptation of Saw, I am not averse to romantic-cheese. Mum is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dirty Dancing (Musical): No one puts this show in the corner! (930 words)

I have to confess to being a big fan of musical theatre and I absolutely adore the film Dirty Dancing, which is why when I was offered a ticket for the live production at the Aldwych Theatre I jumped at the chance. I was really looking forward to seeing how one of my best loved films had been transferred to the stage - and although in many ways it ...  Read the complete review

The classic story brought to life on the stage. I saw this show on the stage recently and absolutely loved it. Like most women, this is one of my favourite movies and I was excited about seeing it live to see how they would do it. It was also my hen night so I went with 15 of my closest friends and had a absolute wail of a time. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dirty Dancing: the Musical (153 words)
by - written on 19/01/09 (Useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

Although this music is good, I will start by saying it definitely does not measure up to the film so don't expect it to or you will be disappointed! The storyline, music and characters are all exactly the same... but it's just not right without Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey! That aside, it's a good fun show to see. The actors capture the ...  Read the complete review
