Derren Brown - Live: ... have been fascinated with Derren Brown s remarkable techniques ever since Mind Control was first broadcast on Channel 4 several years ago. He uses a very clever mixture of psychology, sometimes hypnosis, misdirection, showmanship, body language and cold reading. His ability to convince people that he can read their mind by using these techniques is masterful. His live performances, though they contain significan...

broomstick27 Shakespeare' s Globe Theatre in general
... had never even heard of Timon of Athens before deciding to see it at the Globe. Not being a fan of Shakespeare s comedies and being offered a chance to go to the Globe I opted for this as the only other option currently available. I was worried that I wouldn t understand anything that was going on but found that I need not have worried. Admittedly I did read the synopsis on Wikipedia before I went but I think even without this I would have been fine. There were of course some sections of speeches that I didn t follow completely but it is a credit to the actors and the director (Lucy Bailey) that the majority of the story comes across clearly despite the words. <B&...

Beanie8844 Minack Theatre
... when I have been to Cornwall and the weather has been good we have spent most of our time on the many beaches. This time however the weather was poor, with lots of wind and rain - not the sort of weather you want to be sitting on the beach in, unless you re a surfer of course and then I suppose it is ideal! This didn t really matter too much though because it gave us a chance to visit many of the famous sights and attractions. We visited lots of places including Saint Michaels Mount and the Eden Project, but probably the most charming thing that we visited was the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno. Unlike many of the other attractions it had a real Cornish feel to i...

bilbob20 Evita
... Kings Theatre, Glasgow, September 10, 2008 Having been a fan of the film for over a decade now, I decided to bite the bullet and see the stage version. I m not overly fond of Andrew Lloyd Webber because I think much of his work is overblown and ostentatious. However, both Phantom and Evita sidestep the conventions of his material and actually make for rather enjoyable rock opera s. The story of Eva Duarte is a famous one, albeit slightly contrived in the form of this musical. She was a two bit actress in the 40 s who eventually married famous politician Juan Peron. She scratched her way to fame after arriving in the overcrowded Beunos Aires, making a name for ...
