Advantages: Funny, great songs and cast

My sister and brother in law had seen Legally Blonde on Broadway a few years ago and been raving about it so I was really excited when it finally arrived in the West End last year and booked tickets to go and see it.

We went early in December and I think the show had only been open a week or so, so I think that the few little issues there were have since been ironed out.

It is at the Savoy Theatre which is a nice cosy theatre. We were sat in the stalls near the front which were really good seats.

I am sure most people will have seen the movie Legally Blonde and the musical follows pretty much the same storyline so movie fans won't be disappointed. The star of the show is Elle Woods who is a typical blonde into fashion and fun, but receives a wake up call when her boyfriend Warner dumps her because he wants someone 'serious'. She manages to get into Harvard Law School where he is going, and attempts to try to win his affections back as well as struggling with law school and trials.

Sheriden Smith plays Elle and was absolutely fantastic. She is probably best well known for being in 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps'. Her singing voice was amazing and she was extremely funny but really got the audience to relate to her character.

Warner is played by Duncan James and he was good and really suited the suave part he was playing.

Jill Halfpenny (Eastenders) was great as Paulette, and Aoife Mulholland who some may recognise from the TV Show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? was brilliant as the fitness instructor Brooke.

The show is extremely funny and had the audience in stitches throughout. The 18 songs are all very catchy and it is well worth buying the CD as it is a real sing-a-long musical! The sets and costumes are what you would imagine from Legally Blonde. There are 2 dogs in it as well who play Bruiser and Rufus and were very cute, although when we saw it Bruiser wasn't very obedient!

All in all a great show that girls will love as many would expect, but even the men in the audience were laughing and having a great time.

Summary: A brilliant musical based on the movie
