Advantages: A Brilliant Musical, Suitable For Everyone, Lots Of Fun
Disadvantages: Bit Expensive.
I am a massive fan of both of the Legally Blonde movies starring Reese Witherspoon, so when i heard they where doing a musical i was soooo excited!! However, as with all new plays/musicals it was only showing in londons west end. And living up in Birmingham with a limited budget i figured it would take several years until the musical toured the uk and i would finally get a chance to see it :(
So im sure you can imagine my excitment when back in March my mate decided she wanted to go and see it with a group of mates as a part of her birthday celebrations!!! Not only was i going to see legally blonde: the musical, but it was also my first trip to London!!
The musical is shown at the Savoy Theatre located on The Strand in Londons West End. The theatre was easy to find as it was located a few minutes away from Charring Cross/Embankment tube stations
and was very well sign posted. However, the theatre itself didnt look that impressive compared to some of the others we walked past as there was alot of scaffolding outside and it was hidden a little bit from the street. As i said i've never even been to london before never mind the west end so maybe it was just unlucky they where building at the time that i went.

When i was booking the prices ranged from £20 to £80 depending on where you where sitting and which showing you where going to. i paid £40 for a seat in the dress circle for a 7:30pm showing on a weeknight. tickets are available from several websites including:
The main plot of the musical is pretty much exactly the same as the first film. it tells the story of Elle Woods (sheridan smith), a girl who loves all things pretty and pink. After graduating high school Elle thinks her teenage sweetheart Warner (duncan james), is going to propose instead he dumps her claiming shes not serious enough to be his girlfriend whilst he goes to harvard to study for his law degree!! Heartbroken elle decides not to give up on her true love and decides to follow warner to harvard law school to prove blondes have brains too. Along the way Elle makes enemies in Warners new love Vivienne, new friends in beauty therapist Paulette as well as a possible new love in the clever yet cute Emmet. And being a musical all of this is of course accompanied by very OTT singing and dancing!!
~What I Thought~
Well as ive said ive never seen a West End show before so i didnt really know what to expect, but i was not disapointed in the slightest!!! the plot stuck pretty much exactly to the movies which i thought was good because why change something that works so well? everything from the costumes, dancing, singing and acting was amazing. everyone in the theatre couldnt help but sing and laugh the whole way through. whilst you might think the musical is strictly for young girls i would have to disagree, the audience was made up of both men and women of all ages and is a real family show which can be enjoyed by everyone.
i was also impressed by the amazing range of merchandise available including legally blonde tracksuits, t-shirts and even a toy bruiser!! these where however very expensive but i suppose that is to be expected. my budget would only stretch to a programme (£7.00). but it was a great little reminder of my day out and includes loads of colourful pictures of the show.
i would highly recommend this show to anyone who like musical theatre . it is suitable for all ages and would be a great day out for either families or groups of friends.
i challenge anyone to watch this show and not leave with a huge grin on their face as me and my friends did. and meeting the dogs that played bruiser leaving through the stage door was a real bonus aswell :D
Summary: Would Reccomend To Everyone, It Was A Great Night Out!!
