Advantages: really colourful with boo-tiful costumes

Disadvantages: expensive & if you have a bad seat you will miss everything worth seeing!

Went to see the lion king on Sunday, tickets were a gift from my boyfriends parents...if I hadn't got the tickets as a gift I would not have gone - for 50 squids a head!

The music was amazing and the kids playing the young simba & nala were so good, my favorite was definately the baboon - her voice was mind blowing!

We had excellent seats we were the first row of the stalls, this meant that we really didn't miss anything! You could see the animals processing and all the action (when actors were on the balcony's) and had a brilliant view of the two guys playing the drums!

The opening was mind blowing, the costumes were so elaborate that they could almost be diplayed in cases and just admired, one of the first scenes was the animals all gathering for simbas presentation, the elephant costume was out of this world...looking back, you can understand why the tickets are so expensive...the maintenance and up keep of the costumes must be a small fortune!

The giraffes were excellent....men with stilts on all 4's and long necks, the hyenas heads were on springs from their chests so their heads moved about....i could go on forever about the costumes...but should move on!

The music was really good, there is something really touching about the voice of the baboon and the music is quite tribal and african which is i think what provoked the most of the feeling!

Seats are very important when you see this show, and as the tickets are so expensive anyway, it is definately worth paying extra to make sure that you have good seats.

The audience was mesmerised, we went to see the matinee performace (3:00pm on a sunday afternoon), going into the theatre there were so many small kids, but there was no fuss from them during the performance what-so-ever. Normally I am quite fussy about kids being around (obviously being a kids show there is no other option) but the show is soo good and there is so much to keep the kids occupied that they are good as gold!!

Definately a brilliant treat for any kiddies birthday or big kiddies birthday :)

Summary: brilliant, if you have money to burn
