Advantages: A great show, I totally escaped the real world while it was on.
Disadvantages: Pricey tickets.
I was given tickets to this show for my birthday, and it was the best present I could have been given.
The show is on at the Lyceum Theatre, in London, which is about a five minute walk from Covent Garden tube station.
My tickets were £47.50 each to sit in the middle of the stalls. I do believe you can get cut price tickets on weekdays from ticket sellers around the Covent Garden/Lecister square area.
The show lasted around 2 and a half hours, with a mid way interval, but it felt alot shorter.
The story is that of the well known disney film about an adventorus lion cub, who will one day be king. Simba is forced to run away from home after his evil uncle master plans the death of his father.
Evil Uncle Scar then becomes king of Pride Rock and causes the break down of the food chain.
When Simbas childhood friend Nala finds him she begs him to come home and save Pride Rock, but can he face his own demons and return home?
Its all about courage and bravery and love and morals and I defy anyone to watch it without getting at least a little bit misty eyed!
All the well known songs from the film are included in the production, "I Just Cant Wait to be King", and "Hukonamatata" were my favourites.
The voices of the cast are fantastic, particularly the lady who plays the baboon and the children that play the lion cubs.
The costumes are amazing, coupled with the scenery and the fantastic acting, you forget that they are people and really believe they are the animals they portray.
The charecters are funny, and children (okay and adults) in the audience had a good giggle at the discusion of Pumba the wart Hogs wind problem.
Its hard to find anything negative to say about this production, seats in the stalls are deffinatley best as the animals come through the audience and you miss out on this if you are in the circle.
I would imagine that very young children would find the production long to sit through but I think my 5 year old niece would be spell bound by it.
Summary: A magical production, with fantastic actors and wonderful music.
