Advantages: fabulous,
Disadvantages: end seems to come too soon!
Its The Circle of Life!
A dramatic opening sees the stage jam packed with magnificent costumes, fantastic singers and a marvelous orchestra! The show is a must see and is sinful if you don't!
The story centers around Simba a young lion beginning to find his feet in the world. The young cub has to deal with treachery from his uncle and realize that not everyone is as they seem. The cub has to deal with the coming of responsibility, relationships (friends and girls!) before finally he comes home take his place as king! The most evident them of the show is the circle of life, with the show opening on the birth of Simba, through to his Father dieing to Simba's soon being born and celebrated.
At first i was rather nervous about seeing the show, looking at pictures of the costumes i didn't think that they would work. To me they didn't seem realistic, i would not be able to look at them and think thats a lion, a bird, i thought i would be sat there thinking its a bad years Halloween. Thankfully i was definitely wrong. Straight away it was the costumes that got my attention not the people beside them, in them or holding them. The actor and actresses moved like the animals and with the scenery and African percussion it really felt you were in africa not the west end!
The music is brilliantly composed and credit goes to Lebo M, Elton John and Tim Rice! I guarantee you will have bought the album by the end of the week! The show includes Academy Award winning songs such as Can you Feel the love tonight? and The Circle of Life.
The Lion King broadway won numerous Tony awards and this is a shear sign that the show is a must see! Character such has Timone and Pumba offer light hearted humour whilst Nala offers a love interest. The show really is great fun for all the family and worth the trip to London.
I would whole heartedly recommend booking the tickets on the internet (Quick and Easy), thus avoiding disappointment from going to buy at the door! Please go and see this show!
Summary: brilliant show
