The Lion King is a live adaptation of the world famous Disney movie. The show takes place almost daily at the Lyceum Theatre in London and can quite simply be described as spectacular! I went to see it about a year ago now but the memories and the emotions it created are still strong. I remember when the show opened to the african drum beat of The Circle of Life my heart was pounding in my chest. Then when the characters entered the stage immitating the mannerisms for the african savannah animals I couldn't stop myself from having a little cry it was so amazing.
The show itself follows the same story of Simba the Lion cub, as the 1994 film and uses the same songs, plus some you may not have heard which were going to be used in the film but were cut out. The actors were puppet like costumes to indicate their characters but their faces aren't obscured so they can sing freely. The voices of the cast are so powerful you can feel the emotion of the characters as the adventure progresses.
Tickets cost between £20-£70 depending on where you buy them, and can be bought direct from the theatre on the day you want to see it if there are seats available. Shows take place everyday exlcuding mondays at 7.30pm with matinee showing on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
