Established in 1932, the Open Air Theatre is the oldest fully professional, permanent outdoor theatre in Britain, with one of the largest theatre auditoriums in London. Over 120,000 people visit each year during the 15 week summer season. The 2007 summer season will include Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lady Be Good, Fantastic Mr Fox and The Boy Friend. Although we have just six permanent members of staff, in the summer we require nearly 100 personnel and have a turnover of around £2 million. Famous for our Shakespeare performances, A Midsummer Nights Dream remains a signature piece in the repertoire, each year we also produce a musical and a childrens play. We have received over twenty Olivier nominations in the last ten years.
