I took my daughters to see Peppa Pig Live when aged 2 & 3. They are huge Peppa Pig fans, but had never really been to the theatre before so we didn't know what to expect.
The show's storyline was based around it being Peppa's Birthday party.
When the curtains opened I was a bit shocked to see that the show was going to be performed by visible puppeteers, with hand-held puppets.I suppose I expected it to be people dressed up in full size Peppa suits.
At any moment I expected my daughters to ask me what was going on, but to my amazement they completely accepted it and were engrossed immediately.
The puppeteers have microphones and do all the voices for the characters they are operating. The voices are good and sound very much like the voices from the tv show.
As well as Peppa and George, you also see Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, Emily Elephant, Danny Dog, and lots of Peppa's other friends.
There is lots of singing and dancing in the show and lots of interaction with the audience. By the end of the show, the majority of the children in the audience were down at the front jumping around and dancing.
Overall it was a good show and my children loved it. Both said they wanted to go again as soon as it finished!
The show lasted around an hour an 40 minutes - with a 10 minute interval
We paid around £12 a ticket, so as there were 4 of us it wasn't exactly a cheap afternoon out, but it was very entertaining and as a treat well worth it just to see the looks on our kids faces.
They sell a lot of Peppa merchandise and it's certainly not cheap - Peppa t-shirts were £12, so be prepared to avoid the vending stalls!
