Advantages: Great cast, music, costumes, special effects...I could go on

Disadvantages: That it has to end!!!

I love musicals and would love to see more, having seen a handful now I think at present The Phantom of the opera has to be a firm favourite. I first thought about going to see it when a friend returned from a weekend in London and had been to see the show, she raved about it and as we had imialr interests I was keen to see the production. A few months later and there I was in the capital heading to Her Majesty's theatre on a lovely saturday evening.

Phantom of the opera is a musical by the famous Andrew Lloyd Weber, he wrote the show 22 years ago and yet it still continues to go strong. The story itself is based around a young female opera singer and a young composer who is embarrased by his phsical apperance, because of this he has lived his life underneath a Paris Opera House, he falls for Christine (the young singer) and although she thinks she is interessed in the Phantom she also falls in love with Raoul (whose parents are the Patros of the opera house) The Phantom gets jealous and kidnaps Christine... For those of you who have not seen the show I will not tell you the ending!

The costumes, music and special effects make this production a must-see. There is a fantastic moment when the Phantom appears on top of the Chandalier (you are best to get seats in the dress circle to see the full effects of this) He brings it crashing down around you in a spectacular effect.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is re-knowned for his music and alongside the beautiful lyrics songs such as 'All I ask of You', ' Music of the Night' and the give you goosebumps 'Phantom of the Opera' all help make this one of the best musicals of all time.

The show has been seen in 120 cities, played to over 80 million people and won over 50 theatre awards, not bad!!!

In London you can see performances on monday to saturday evening (7.30pm) and tuesday and saturday matinees (2.30pm) Tickets vary in price, some are part of a package of a weekend break, some start from £20, I did a weekend break as I live in the Midlands but for those close you can get tickets from www.londontheatretickets.com

So why not go and see London's greatest love story, I did and wanted to go and see it over and over again!!

Summary: Take a trip to see this fantastic smusical, worth every penny
