Robin Hood: The Pantomime Adventure
Advantages: It was fantastic, Special Effects, and Sam
One week when I was at my nans house she decided to get tickets for four of us to go and see the Robin Hood pantomime at the Birmingham Hippodrome. After seeing last years Aladdin I was very excited to go! I'd seen clips of it on adverts and on the news but it wasn't anything like it was on the adverts!
When we arrived at the Hippodrome it was absolutely packed, isn't it always! It looks big on the outside but on the inside it is massive. There was posters of this years and next years pantomimes, all of them look very good! We were in about thew middle of the audience and we had a very good seat, except for the fact that we was sitting next to three very chatty women! Other than that the seats were perfect. We got into our seats about half hour early, so we kept asking "when is it going to start" and "how long left" every two minutes.
When it finally began it started with a song in the market place. This is where we meet Robin Hood and his ten Merry Men and Friar Tuck. Robin and his men are talking about the one and only Maid Marien who just so happens to be in her carriage when the Merry Men go and steal it so she walks to the marketplace and meets Robin. Soon after that the Sheriff of Nottingham comes along to try and kill the Merry Men but his plan doesn't work out too well.
Later on you see Friar Tuck dressed up as a women, in about seven different outfits and hairstyles! My favourite character in Robin Hood was Paul Zerdin as Will Scarlett and his puppet Sam. Sam started something with a member of the audience by calling him ugly and a lot of other things too! At the end of the pantomime they got John up on the stage and put a mask on him put Sam's voice in the speakers and made him say that he wants to be called Tracy! Everyone was almost wetting themselves laughing as it was so hilarious. Luckily John had a good sense of humor. At one pointy when Sam sung a song to Marien there was a woman in front actually crying! Me and my sister just couldn't help laughing.
One of the things that drawn people to watch Robin Hood was the special "guest" star. Titan the robot from transformers was the farting robot! He started off evil and then got not quite so evil. It was quite funny at one point watching him chase Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett and Little John. Another thing that made this show different was that about half way through there was ice-skating! Robin and Marien danced together and the Merry Men all danced on the edges. Also there was two professional skaters who were very good too.
The special effects were excellent such as Casandra the witch's spells and making Sam be able to move without anyone holding him. Everyone was just amazed at how brilliant the whole production was. I've went to see it once and I'd see it again, it was fantastic!
