Advantages: accessable, comfortable, friendly

Disadvantages: needs more big acts

I went to the Royal and Derngate at the Weekend to atch Russell Howard, its the first time i've been sine the 'face lift' and it was very impressive.

Parking is accessible and convenient for the theatre, there is a big multi storey about a 2 minute walk from the main entrance, it cost 80p to park there for a show ( as long as you don't arrive to early ) and there were not huge queues to get out at the end of the night.

On entering the Derngate through the main entrance it is a lovely venue, very bright, very clean colours and enough space for everyone to mill around without feeling cramped.

The toilets are well looked after and plentiful

The direction markers are clear and simple to get you to the right door into the theatre itself.

We were seated near the front of the upper circle, they were brilliant seats, the view was supberb and because of the way it is laid out even if you have someone 7' sitting in front of you they will not block your view.

The staff at the bar and on the doors, were very friendly and helpful.

I have no complaints for this venue and will happily go there again many times

Summary: Can't wait for my next visit

Would have been more useful if you'd included something about the sort of shows they host - anyone who doesn't already know R&D won't get much of an idea of why they might want to visit it.
