Advantages: Funny sketches
Disadvantages: Over priced merchandise
I love the Mighty Boosh and was gutted when I didn't manage to get any tickets to see them at the Live show 2008. Only at the last minute, literally about 5 days before the gig I managed to get hold of 2 front row tickets for the Leeds show from a friend! So on the 9th December myself and a friend went along to the Grand theatre in Leeds city centre for a night of pure comedy. We were seated more or less in the middle of the front row.
Before the show we had a chance to buy the merchandise. I would have liked one of everything but it was really expensive so I only ended up buying a mug. All the Merch can be seen on the Boosh's website.
The show started at about 7:30pm where Julian and Noel coming on the stage dressed as the future sailors. They sang a few songs and they came back on the stage dressed in there normal clothes and have a bit of a playful chat. They refered to characters from the show, made playful fun of the Kings Of Leon and also made a few jokes about Leeds as it is Julians hometown. I really enojoyed this first 15 or so minutes as there was a lot of laughs to be had.
Throughout the first half we are introduced to 'special guests' from the past three series including Tony Harrison, the Crack Fox and the hilarious Bob Fossil (his coughing routine was legend!). With the small sketches of the special guests are plently of laugh out loud gags and jokes. I was in stiches for most of the time and so was everyone else around me. Another special guest is The Hitcher played by Noel who actually talked to my friend!
After The Hitcher was the interval, which was about 15 minutes long.
The second half was with Julian, a environmentally concerned citizen, giving long speeches about the world coming to an end. An unfunny subject that the Boosh managed to make enjoyable. Noel, who is at this time dressed in a blond wig and gold armour suit, ruins the seriousness of Julians act and gives it the old Boosh quirkyness.
The show ends with music from the Boosh band- The Ungrateful Dead playing some of the old classsics from the past three series.
All in all I really enjoyed the Boosh live 2008 and will defiantly buy the Dvd when it comes out. The show was original and hilariopus and well worth the money. Keep up the good work!
Summary: A great funny show
