Advantages: Fantastic range of productions

Disadvantages: not many productions for children

The Theatre Royal in Plymouth is split into two theatres. The Theatre Royal itself and The Drum Theatre.

The The Theatre Royal is situated at the end of the Royals Parade in the City Centre and is a five minuet walk to the city centre shops.

The theatre shows a lot of the touring west end musicals and plays, ballets, opera and pantomimes.

The Drum theatre shows a lot of plays and there are also a lot of work shops that take place there.
There are quite often touring dance companies that also do work shops.

The Theatre Royal also has a production and education centre called T21 which is situated at Neptune park which is a ten minuet walk away.

The Theatre has a lot of other facilties, they offer a selection of food and drinks.
The Cafe Cuisine serves fantastic food and is open from 12pm for lunch and then 5.30pm for dinner.
There is also a cafe bar in the entrance and bar's can be found in the enterance foyer near the stalls enterance and a bar in the Circle foyer.
A shop can be found on the entrance to the theatre which sells sweets and drinks and normally sells the programs for the respective production. This is situated next to the box office.

Tickets for productions can be booked online, over the phone or from the booking office. All major credit and debit cards are accepted and also cash and cheque in the booking office.

The website is very easy to navigate around and you can also join a mailing list, by doing so you will recieve the whats on guide every season.

The Theatre has very good disabled access with low access points, there are also ramps outside for wheel chairs and there are seats reserved in the stalls for disabled people. There are special disabled ticket prices also.

The Theatre Royal in Plymouth is no doubt the best theatre in the south west, so if your looking to go and take in a play or get involved in some work shops then check out The Theatre Royal.

Summary: Excellent choice of productions, food and workshops.
