We Will Rock You
Advantages: Superb songs
I have seen We Will Rock you twice now, both times in London and the most recent occasion was at the start of the year. If you are a fan of the music of Queen then you will love this show as the story is set to the bands music and it is a fantastic spectacular show which will have you dancing and clapping along.
It is currently playing at the Dominion Theatre in the west end. The plot of the musical is set in the future in a word where music is processed and uniform as a way of controlling the population who are ruled by the Killer Queen, already you can see the lead in to two of Queens big hits. These people who follow this music are the Ga Ga people who lead rather superficial lives, however there is a rebel movement who hark back to the days of rock music an it is their battle that is the focus for the musical.
To be honest this is merely a premise to belt out some great songs and the acting i rather limited, there are a numberof comedy moments in the show and some of it is a bit suggestive but overall quite harmless, there was a wide age range in the audience with many two young to remember the original songs but everyone seemed really into it and enjoying it a lot. You would expect it to be funny given that Ben Elton wrote it and band member Brian May is also involved in the project.
The dancing is excellent and I would love to be up there on stage with them and this is a high energy show that is well worth seeing. Definately worth five stars.
Summary: Excellent musical
