Advantages: A great night out
Disadvantages: Tickets can be expensive
I've never been a fan of musicals or the theatre but I do love Queen and so I was persuaded to go and see this a while back and absolutly loved it! My wife who does like theatre and musicals didn't really like it at all! So maybe this is a production for the reluctant theate go-ers!
First of all it is a very camp and over the top production but if you're a fan of Queen then that is what you should expect! If you watch their music videos, listen to their lyrics and the fact that they provided the soundtrack to such silly (but great films) as Highlander then you'll know you're in for a crazy, in your face, OTT extravaganza.
The story is set in the future where instruments have been banned and everyone has to act the same, listen to the same music, wear the same clothes etc. However, a resistance force is growing and they're searching for a place that is surrounded in myth and legend, a place where instruments still exist in the hope that they can break free, form their own band and once again ROCK!
Seats can cost anywhere from £28 to £60 depending upon what time you see it, at what venue and where you sit. I loved the production and it was a lot of fun but I don't think I would have paid more than £40 for the ticket.
Definelty see this if you're a fan of Queen's music. If you're not a fan of Queen it may not appeal so much as the whole storyline revolves around their music and songs!
Summary: Brilliant camp over the top production
