I went to see this musical twice, once on the very first preview showing on 7th September 2006 at the Apollo Victoria in London and again with my daughter for Idiana Menzels final performance in the UK as Elphaba. Mu husband also went twice... once with me and once with our son!

It is in my opinion an absolute must see for any Wizard of Oz fan. It is somewhat different from the original story, as Elphaba (the witch of the west) is in fact a misunderstood lovely person... to tell more would spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it is a magical and enthralling take on the story.

I saw Idina Menzel in the role of Elphaba and Helen Dallimore as Glinda and they were both fabulous and extremely talented. My husband saw Kerry Ellis in the role of Elphaba and informs me that she was equally as stunning in the role.

I have not kept track of who is playing the roles currently, but believe that with the excellent music by Steven Shwartz, it would be hard not to love this show no matter who plays the lead. The music is thoroughly enchanting and just grabs you straight away and most ardent fans, as I, will tell you they know the songs by heart now. The biggest showstoppers for me were "The Wizard and I", "Popular", "Defying Gravity" and "No good deed" and I loved the duet "As long as you're mine", but all that said it was all amazing.

The costume and staging is stunning and the clock dragon that towers overhead in the stalls is fabulous.

So, if you are wondering which show to go and see and you haven't already, go and see Wicked... you won't be disappointed!!
