Wicked The Musical
Disadvantages: Only in London as far as I know
I can honestly say that this is one of the best musicals I have ever seen. As an avid theatre attendee I have never felt the way I do after seeing this one. The plot is an interesting twist on the Wizard of Oz, it tells the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West isn't actually bad just misunderstood political outcast who has fallen victim to the Wizard of Oz's control. Unlike the book which can be a very difficult read it has been made family friendly and is suitable for all ages. The music for the show was composed to the book and is outstandingly good it will leave tears in your eyes and goosebumps on your arms. The casting is also fantastic Kristin Chenoweth is Glinda the Good Witch and Stephanie Block was Elphaba up until a recent change over and so I can't speak for the new woman but the leading ladies were outstanding. Their vocal performances were so compelling and heartfelt you will feel yourself getting lost in their voices. My personal favourite is "Defying Gravity" it still gives me goosebumps on my Ipod.
The sets for this show are mesmerising as the clockwork dragon overhangs into the audience and comes to life the attention to detail is first rate.
Summary: A must see!!!!
