I don’t often go to the theatre, in fact I am much more used to going to the local multiplex and putting up with the smell of stale popcorn and stained seats! But the Wyndham Theatre was not just in a different league to this – it was like another world! I decided to go in to London with my partner on a Saturday with the possibility of seeing ‘The Play Wot I Wrote’ although we were not too hopeful as we had left it so late to get tickets. However, upon arrival at the theatre at around 1pm we told by the extremely polite and friendly woman in the box office that they would allow us to stand at the back of the stools for £10 each (the normal stools price was £45). We arrived back at the theatre at 8 for the show. The staff were extremely polite in directing us to the bar where there was a good range of very reasonably priced drinks. When ordering drinks we were asked if we would like to pre-order drinks for the interval which is a good idea as despite good staffing, the bar was not in any way big enough to allow everyone to order drinks during the break. Once in the auditorium, we were pleased to see that the carpeted floor was clean enough for us to sit down on while waiting for the show to start and the view sitting there was good enough not to have to stand for the performance. After everyone was in we noticed that two seats in the 3rd row were still free. Before we had a chance to sneak down the aisle and slip quietly in to the spare places, an usher had spotted us sitting at the back and rushed up to us to suggest that we may like to sit there. He then escorted us to our seats and politely apologised to the other people in the aisle for the disturbance. This was possibly the best service I have ever had, all the staff go out of there way to help and really make you feel that they want you to have a good time. The theatre was clean, the seats were comfortable, the service was excellent. The
well written, well-performed play was just the icing on the cake! If you are after a great night out then the Wyndham Theatre is definitely the place to go.
