Acquapark

Cecina is a town in Tuscany, situated about 40 minutes from Pisa airport. The town has many amenities, and one of the places we usually visit while holidaying here is the water park.

The waterpark is situated a short distance from the town centre, and when taking the main road towards the beach, the slides can be seen through the houses. So, no need to signpost it as it is obvious where to turn off, but it is actually very clearly signposted.

The park was opened in 1993, and whilst the slides and amusements are not as big as in some of the newer parks, it still looks new, and shows no signs of wear and tear and general shabbiness.

There is a big modern entrance, and once you have paid for your ticket (16 Euros for an adult, and 13 Euros for children from 3-11 years) you are in the water park. It calls itself a village, and it is actually like a park. There are chairs dotted around the two pools, and areas which are shaded as well as areas where you can lay your towel for a sleep! A lot of this area is grassed, so it's best to have a very large towel.

The pools and rides are manned by life guards who sit on chairs and who will reclaim them if they think you have taken them. There are several slides, ranging from the Kamikaze, which is very high, and drops almost vertically, to smaller slides. The smaller slides run into the shallow pool, so they are good for young children, especially because not only does a life guard sit right at the side of the pool next to the slide, but also because it is nice and open so parents get a clear view of what is going on.

There is a small café selling drinks and snacks, and considering they have a captive audience, it is quite reasonably priced. However, this being the kind of place people stay all day, most people take picnics, so the café sells mostly drinks.

The whole place is clean and open with plenty of space so it never feels really busy or crowded. Although there are always people coming down the slides, there is never a queue to get onto the slides, so if you walk the many stairs to the kamikaze, you don't have a long wait- not a lot of time to get scared!

From June to September, the park is open from 10am until 6pm. For anyone wanting a long stay in the park, it's worth noting that once you have paid for your ticket, you can stay until closing time.

VERDICT

For anyone with children, or adults who like water slides, I would recommend the acquavillage. We have spent several fun days here. The whole place is clean and modern looking, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Fortunately there is always plenty of space to sit or lie down but we find there is no time to do this whilst looking after the children.

A fun place for all the family.

Thanks for reading.

Not one for me - I can't swim - but a very good review all the same! Richard.
