Advantages: Great selection of rides, cheaper than alton towers
Disadvantages: Only opens from April to October then closes through Winter :(
Having been to the American Adventure about twelve times, I can safely say that it is brilliant. The majority of people would say that it is simply a second class, cheaper alternative to going to Alton Towers but I think this is completely wrong (as I have told many of my friends when trying to convince them to go to here rather than the bigger theme park). Firstly, because it is relatively close to the Alton Towers, it means that the majority of people do go there rather than going to the American Adventure and therefore it is quite quiet on most days with few queues for the very best rides. Its not as though the rides here are any worse than the rides at the American adventure either - there are still upside down roller-coasters ie. the missile and the double looper. In fact, some of the rides are, in my opinion, far better. For example, you don't see a log flume with a huge 62 degree drop at Alton towers or any other theme park in England (its the biggest and steepest log flume in Europe). The American Adventure is also really easy to reach - it's sign-posted from the motorway and there is a much greater variety of rides there than at some other theme parks because it does not just specialise in huge stomach churning roller coasters that make you feel sick if you go on them too much but it has lots of other rides as well that you can go on. There are motion masters (giant simulators where you sit in chairs that whizz around and make you feel as though you are in the film), 3-D cinemas, a driving school and rapids..... I could go on for ages! When I last went a couple of weeks ago, I have to say that my favourite ride was the log flume or 'Nightmare Niagara' as it is so truly called. I ended up going on it seven times over the day but you definitely need a big cagoul as I learnt when I had to walk around in soaking wet trousers for the rest of the day! Also a picture is taken of you as you are going down the first wat
erfall which is quite amusing to buy and laugh at if you're not too embarrassed by the face you're pulling!

- 11/04/01 I think so Elvira ... they have lots of horse riding shows and stuff like that there but it's not on every day - only during holidays and at weekends.
