Disadvantages: Queues, expensive, crowds

Howdy pardner, nice of you to mosey on down to my neck of the woods. Why don't you pull up a log and stay for a while. It's mighty good of you to come a visiting us here in Silver City. I can see you want to do a bit of exploring, well you are in luck cos I am the best darn scout this little town has ever known. I'd be happy to show you around.
Keep close my friend and watch out for those rogue arrows as I take you on your very own American Adventure.

Well you've paid your dues and crossed the border into our little ol park. I hope you have your walking boots on, there is plenty to see and so much to do.
Hold onto your hats boys, you might need yer sixshooter here.We are about to enter THE ALAMO.

Originally named Misión San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years.San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution. In December 1835, Ben Milam led Texian and Tejano volunteers against Mexican troops quartered in the city.
Well as you can see from the state of the place today Amigo, those pesky Mexicans are still hanging around although if we mosey over to some of the great cook houses that are dotted around the joint, you will find that not all things Mexican are bad, you can buy a mean chilli dog, or some flaming hot Nachos, you can buy them all at the watering hole.Mind you I am not surprised that these crazy Mexicans eat such hot food, have you seen the transportation they are using these days? I think that you call them rides where you come from.

BUFFALO STAMPEDE........A family rollercoaster. Not a tame ride, but not a breath-taker, no loops or heights, but some pretty mean curves. The sort of ride my hyperactive granny might enjoy. (Height restriction 1 metre )

TWIN LOOPER.......48 ft high. This coaster is not for the faint hearted my friend. Two loops to torture yourself with and at 30mph, this baby
rocks. (H/R 1.37 metres)

SKYCOASTER......You have to pay extra for this ride, but I am told that it is worth it.This is a human catapult, where you and a friend if you want, can be taken up on a great big piece of elastic.....You then have to pull the rip cord and fly 200ft at speeds of 80/100 mph. This is the largest free fall ride of its kind outside the USA. (H/R 1.22 metres)This is a monster of a ride...(You can book in advance to ride this baby.)

JCB WORLD....Test your driving skills, scoop, dig and load with the real thing at the only official JCB World in the UK.

CRAZY GOLF......Watch out for those pesky golfers, I mean golphers.

HELTERSKELTER.....Old favourite, great fun and best of all no height restrictions!
If all thats not enough pardner, then how about visiting the Adventure Farm, where you can pet the animals and feed the chipmonks and parrots.

Mind those spurs Amigo, we are about to enter....THE WATERFRONT.

This is where we prospectors spend our hard earned gold.We come here to blow off steam, grab a whisky and kick off our boots.

THE FUDGE KITCHEN....Where you can watch your sweets being made.

NEW ORLEANS MALL.....For all your gifts to take home and enjoy.

BLUE FIN FOOD KITCHEN....Whats your pleasure?.Fish and chips, pizza and pasta, jackets and cobs...The prices are a little high and you might fall off your horse waiting for your turn here.

FRESCO WHARF....A watering hole for the men of the town.

Is your stomach full and your thirst satisfied?....Then lets move on, its time to visit THE AZTEC KINGDOM.

The Aztecs/Mexicas were the native American people who dominated northern México at the time of the Spanish conquest led by Hernan CORTES in the early 16th century. According to their own legends, they originated from a place called Aztlan, somewhere in north or northwest Mexico.
Yep, thats right Amigo...More Mexicans.
The place is full of our sombrero wearing friends, but Aztec World is a place for the young and old. This is a place to let yer rootin tootin hair down for a while and let the young uns have a go.

RIO GRANDE.....You have to be a very little indian to ride this minature train.

VINTAGE CARS.....Another little indian ride, these tiny cars are a delight, although whether they belong here in Aztec World is something I would question.

CAROUSEL....Ooooo...Fun for all the family here, but it does have a height restriction ( 1 mtre)

Look up my friend, Mount Rushmore looms over us, with the heads of the presidents smiling, secretly. What secrets do they hold I hear you ask......Mosey on inside and I will show you.

SOFT PLAY....For different ages and abilities, great fun for wet days.

3D CINEMA...Sit back and watch 15 minutes of 3D magic.

HILLBILLIES AND PANCHOS PLACE.....Great venues for hungry braves.

AMUSEMENTS....Hang onto your nuggets in here my friend. They have a habit of losing themselves.

MOTION MASTER.....Take an amazing journey with this ride where the seats move along with the story. (H/R..1 metre) This is a good ride, because it seats a lot of people so the queues move very fast.

Look here.I have had enough of Mexico and I can see the lights of Silver City in the distance. Come with me and let me show you how wild the west really can be.

As you can see my friend, Silver City is a typical wild west town. There's the sheriffs office, the bank and of course lets not forget Lazy Lils saloon. Can you hear the piano playing?I can hear the whoops of the gals inside too, they must be up on the stage again, their legs a kicking and their skirts a dancing. Sure I can't buy you a beer or get ya something to eat?Are you sure?...There's some mighty pretty ladies in there.

Oh, oh.
Looks like trouble brewing.Must be time for..

THE SILVER
CITY SHOW.
Once every hour,Silver City is roped off to make way for the famous American Adventure cowboys to do their show. Stunts and thrills galore, watch as the bank is robbed and the villains climb onto the roof of the old town and walk its timber edges.....Whoops, he shoots and falls, great stunt, great show.
Then come the horsemen and the wonderful tricks and displays they perform as they circle the town. This show is a delight to watch and a ' must see' if you pay Silver City a visit.

RIVERBOAT.....Enjoy the scenery as you take this delightful authentic pedal steamer across the lake that sits in the centre of our little bit of America.

HIGH SIERRA......A big wheel with a difference, this wheel has a wagon attached to it.52.6m high, this is a great family ride. (H/R 1Metre)

YANKEE CLIPPER.....A little indian ride, a pirate ship, american style of course. (No height restriction)

Are you sure you want to go on?...You do?...Then hold onto your hats because we are travelling through indian territory now as we head for FORT ST LAWRENCE.

NIGHTMARE NIAGRA.....This wonderful log flume is one of the tallest triple drop flumes in the world. The largest drop is a massive 60ft at a speed of 42mph, this is a white water ride that is not for the faint hearted. You get your photo taken on this one so smile if you can force those jaws apart. (H/R 1.22 metres ) The queues for this one are long, long , long.

RUNAWAY TRAIN......And boy does it!The twists and turns of this high speed ride will have you screaming for more as it powers its way through Thunder mountain. (H/R 1.22 metres)

BALLOON RIDE.......Forget the umberellas, this ride puts them to shame. It's an air balloon ride for all the family (H/R 1 metre )

ROCKY MOUNTAIN RAPIDS....You will get wet on this white water ride. Not the biggest I have seen, but loads of fun and the low height restriction means that you can take a f
ew little indians along for the ride. (H/R 1 metre )

CLAUDE AND MILLIES AND WISHBONES DINER.....For those of us who hunger for a little something American, the hotdogs and burgers are great.

AMUSEMENTS......More nugget losers and gambling opportunities.

Had enough of the West have you? Well I can take you to a place where the old world of America disapears into the roar of engines and rockets.Welcome to SPACE PORT.

THE MISSILE.....125 ft high,a G force of 2.5 and a maximum speed of 45 mph this rollercoaster will blow you away. The fear as you are pulled up to 125ft and then released to rocket through 3 loops.Forwards or backwards, they are both as scary. Definately not for the faint hearted. (H/R 1.22 metres)

SUPERCARTS....There is an extra charge for these, but they are a lot of fun and great for the big kids that we bring with us. Cars do 20mph. (H/R 1.40 metres)

STARBASE SLIDE........Astrogliding, great fun.I love those bumpy slides...(H/R 1 metre)

CYBERSTORM....... A Lazerquest fight on Dodgems, in the dark......Boys toys, great fun. (H/R 1.22 metres)

ROCKET RETAIL......For all those pre- launch gifts

LUNCH PAD......A self service restaurant I am definately able to recommmend.

Phew.I have to tell you pardner, after all that walking I am saddle sore and ready for a siesta. Lets take the train back to the Alamo shall we?

THE SANTA FE RAILWAY.....Runs around lake Reflexion, calling at all the park areas. They are large trains, with lots of seats. They accomodate pushchairs but I am not sure about wheelchairs....Its a long walk around the lake and the train is a great way to see it all.

Well here we are back at the Alamo.
Have I showed you everything you wanted to see? I do hope so. There are things I still need to tell you though so pull up a log and listen for a minute.

There are lots of restrooms for your private little moments in
the park.I have taken to visiting one or two of them and I can tell you they are clean and well stocked with toilet paper.

There are also plenty of places for changing your little baby indians and these too are clean and tidy.
There are good sized toilets for disabled visitors too.I definately checked these out for you. The paths are flat and wide, although that there Fort Lawrence sits itself on a hill that may be a might tricky for you speedy little towns folk in your wheelchairs.

Theres a really good first aid post, for all you cowboys silly enough to get an arrow to the butt.

The park is clean and tidy and the staff, although very young, seem very nice and certainly follow the safety rules. I guess none of them want to spend the night in the sherriffs office along with the bad guys.

There is a huge variety of food on offer here, though I have to tell you that it may cost you quite a bit of your gold to keep the young uns satisfied, what with the amusements and the shops and stores.
The queues for the rides can get very long sometimes, don't be surprised if you have to wait an hour for some of the more popular rides, but the rides for the little ones seems to tick over quite fast.

What else do you need to know? Oh yes, how do you find our little bit of Americana and how much of your hard earned gold is it gonna cost you to get in?

Saddle up pardner, I'm gonna show you the way....

The American Adventure is easy to get to from the M1 junction 26, take the A610, proceed towards Heanor, following the A6007 towards Ilkeston for the approximately two miles and you will find us on the right hand side of the road.

The park is open from 10 am daily, 12th April to 2nd November inclusive.
You pay at the gate to ride all day.....
12 yrs and under.......£11.99
13 yrs and older......£14.99
Disabled Guests and Carer....£ 14.99 (Carer going free....Big thumbs up for this one
)
Children under 1 Metre.....FREE
Senior citizens.....£4.99
LOW SEASON MIDWEEK PRICE......£9.99

Well pardner, I hope you enjoyed your American Adventure.I sure enjoyed having you along for the ride. I've gotta go now, that there gold aint gonna pan itself now is it? Take care of yourself and come back and see me sometime.YEEEEEE HHAAAAAA....!

I really like it here.I get a lot for my money and there is plenty to see and do, even for those who choose not to ride.My only real grumble....Queues are long and quite slow, they might think about introducing the fast queue system that I have heard that other parks are now using.

This is very near me, but I've never actually been there. Sounds like a great day out for when my nephews and nieces come to stay.
