Advantages: Lots to see, learning experience, more than just a theme park

Disadvantages: It is a walkabout, more like a marine zoo than a park

Sea World is much more than just a place to go visit - it's a place that makes you aware of another realm to this world that we live in. It's a learning experience; you can see various ocean and river mammals, plus all manner of fishes, and learn about their natural habitat, diet, etc. Of course, the highlight of any trip to Sea World is Shamu - it is amazing to see how graceful this huge mammal can be, and to realise it has only been a few decades since we mistakenly thought these gentle creatures as dangerous to man, and hunted him almost to extinction in the cruelest of ways.
Sea World is one of the foremost agencies involved in rescuing ocean wildlife, and has a team available to go wherever needed to offer assistance in a variety of places in the world. Injured whales, dolphins and seals, or areas in crisis - such as those affected by an oil spill - Sea World is involved in a lot of the rehabilitation and cleaning up procedures. They also do various "classes" for all ages, programmes and learning "camps". Much more than just a theme park.

The park itself is too much to really take in on one day; when we lived close by, we went a few times, it takes that long for it all to soak in. You can stroke rays in the petting pool, watch the manatees through glass in their riverfront habitat, walk through a tunnel as barracudas and sharks swim overhead and around you. You can take a helicopter ride (virtual reality here!) to Wild Arctic and see the Polar Bears, and for fast, furious action there's always the Baywatch show! And the fireworks display to end it all.
It's easily found, located on International Drive in the heart of tourist Orlando. Plenty of Florida sunshine (don't forget to pack the sun-cream), lots to see. A brilliant place for all the family!
