Advantages: Great rides, cheaper than some other parks
Disadvantages: Lacks the charm other parks have
I visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach last year and I thought it was great value for money. The weather in Blackpool wasnt always great during my 4 day stay but this park didnt disappoint where ride were concerned or eating out. The general atmosphere of this park is happy and fun which is great for the family however the atmosphere here is nothing compared to theme parks like Disneyland or Universal Studios, but you get what you pay for with this park in the sense of good rides and entertainment.
To pay in to the park you need to buy wristbands, I think that if you want to get the best out of the park the Ultimate Daily Wristband is the best deal, however if you dont really want to do many rides or are not fit to for various physical reasons the Pleasure Beach Pass will probably be enough for you and then when in the park you can choose to pay for the rides that suit you best.
There are loads of great rides in Blackpool Pleasure Beach, including the Pepsi Max Big One, which is a really high rolarcoaster with a massive drop, you can see all over Blackpool when your at the top of this ride. The Valhalla which is a viking themed water ride that brings you through ice cold and firey hot places while you get soaked (and I mean soaked) in the different plunges that it takes, i recommend buying the water proff pancho coats sold outside for this ride. There are also smaller rides in this park too like the Alice Ride taking you through Alice and Wonderland's looking glass and visiting the characters in a kind of 'Disney Fantasty Land' styled ride for the kids. There are also loads of arcades and other things to do to keep you amused in the park. I think that the ride list in the park is great and gives you great value for your money and leaves the family and the thrill seekers something to do for hours in the park. Queue times for the rides depend on day time and popularity as usual with any theme parks.
Eating in the park is reasonably priced as well with a range of restaurants to suit any taste, there is a Pizza Hut, a Burger King and a range of other seafood, american and italian restaurants.
I think that Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a great theme park and great value for money, however having been in Disneyland and Universal it seems to lack a certain charm about it that the others have. You get what you pay for with this park so if you are looking for a cheaper yet still fun holiday I recommend this park, just be sure to check the weather forecast before going.
