Blackpool Pleasure Beach is down the Southern end of Blackpool and cannot be missed at all! The endless pier and lighted streets along the sea front will take you the whole way to the pleasure beach. Over the years blackpool has become more and more popular. Some people look at Blackpool and call it a dump, it sort of was once. Nowadays Blackpool is in some ways a major holiday resort and thousands of people visit the place daily. The thousands of arcades, the huge beach and rocky sea attracts attention to many tourists and UK travaillers daily. And thats not even mentioning the famous Pleasure Beach. During my stay up North a while ago now, I visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I'd visited it before but that was at least 3 years ago, things have since changed and the park has once again been improved dramatically. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is open to all the public, it is suited for the disabled and guide dogs are allowed in too, there is no admission charge which makes the park so much different compared to other theme parks in the UK such as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park. You can wander through the place without spending a penny although this can be quite hard! With all the amusements, souvenir shops and the food and drink stalls, you will most probably end up buying something! The best thing to do is plan a day out to Blackpool or even two. Save some money and make a day of it. You should go for the rides whilst your there, it makes the day that much better. For each ride you have to pay individually which all adds up to quite a huge amount of dosh so the best thing to do is buy all day wristbands, these cost £25 and give you unlimited access to all the rides in the park, there is over 145 attractions! You can also buy wristbands which are valid for 2days, these cost £40. The rides themself have definitely improved over the years, there are some really good white knuckle rides which are a pleasure to ride. There are also many
old coasters which are donkey years old but these are so much better than the newer rollercoasters, they're more ricketier and enjoyable! There are loads of family attractions and rides to suit all! THE PEPSI BIG ONE ================ This must be the biggest ride attraction in Blackpool. It is the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world and was opened in 1994 so it isn't brand spanking new but is very well known. If you're ever stuck trying to find the park you will always be able to follow this coaster because you can see it from miles away! The ride reaches up to 235 feet and reaches speeds up to 85 mph. It's great! This is the longest rollercoaster I've ever been on and it's a pleasure to ride! VALHALLA ========= This ride was opened in 2000 and is amazing! This is the biggest and most spectacular water-ride in the dark in the whole world! The ride cost a whole 15 million to design and construct - it was worth it. Valhalla is quite a slow paced boat ride inside an amazing building. It does get quite speedy at times though. The ride is themed, mainly themed on natural elements. The ride is a journey through different rooms, each room has different elements. These are of fire, water, snow and ice. As you can probably imagine the ride is pretty cool and rather different and you DO get wet! SPIN DOCTOR =========== This ride opened the day I went! The ride is sponsered by Wall's Cornetto Soft and it looks spectacular! The ride is two 120 feet long windmill / propeler poles which spin around 360 degrees at a speed of 60mph! Each propelor only has 4 seats and this carriage spins through 360 degrees too! The ride is an amazing experience and by far the scariest in the park for me! As you can imagine, with only two propelors and 4 seats each propelor queuing is HUGE but this is the only ride you currently have to queue for in the park. AVALANCHE =======
=== This rollercoaster is pretty different to others, it doesen't have a train track. Instead the coaster glides down a white like bob-sleigh track!!! Pretty nifty huh!? The ride is designed for most ages and it's a real experience! It's hard to explain so I hope you've all gathered some kind of idea what the attraction is like!!?? BLACK HOLE =========== This ride is superb! It is basically a ride on the traditional old waltzers! But designers have fondled with the ride and come up with the waltzers in the dark! Fab hey!? In the dark they have a little disco going on, it's a real laugh! BIG DIPPER ========= An original rollercoaster! The Big Dipper may look old and rickety but thats what makes it such a cool ride! Unlike new smooth rollercoasters, this coaster really makes you loose your seat, it'll have you in fits of giggles and I garantee you'll go back for more! GRAND NATIONAL ============== Another traditional number but this one has a theme! Instead of one rollercoaster, we have two rollercoasters on two identical tracks running alongside each other! It's a RACE! This ride is brilliant fun, it's hilarious especially if you know someone on the other train! ICE BLAST ======== This ride had a different name last time I visited but it is currently called Ice Blast. This ride is a modern attraction and catapults you up into the air at a scary speed! The ride is over within a minute but it really is superb! IRN BRU REVOLUTION ================== This is a ride sponsered by Irn Bru ~ You'd never of guessed!? This is a rollercoastetr that rides straight and through a loop, not too amazing!? But then it comes back to the station, BACKWOODS! This ride has used imaginative minds to create, it's very different and quite weird too! LOG FLUME ========= This is a half decent log flume, m
aybe not as good as some in theme parks but still a pleasant and enjoyable ride! You do tend to get wet on this ride! There are many other rides in the park to, here are some listed family attractions: -ZIPPER DIPPER -ALPINE GOLF -EDDIE STOBART'S CONVOY -CHEWITS LOG FLUME -CHINESE PUZZLE MAZE -DERBY RACER -DODGEMS -ELLIE'S CATERPILLAR There are also many indoor attractions for everyone, just incase the weather isn't all you expected! -ARCADES -BOWLADROME -HORROR CRYPT -ICE SKATING -LAS VEGAS BINGO -PASAJE DEL TERROR TICKETS / PRICE INFO As I mentioned earlier on in this op, a wristband for one day costs £25 and a wristband for 2days costs £40. You can also buy wristbands in groups, a group of 5 wristbands costs £100. For a group of three wristbands you pay £70 and for four it is £85. Visitors aged 60+ can buy a wristband for 1day for only £18. All wristbands give you unlimited access to all attractions. If you aren't going to ride many attractions, you are better of buying seperate tickets. You can buy these in batches as the day goes on. Each ticket is individually priced at a pound. For a guide of how much you pay for rides through tickets, a white knuckle ride would be £4.50. (Quite exspensive!!! Thats why I recommend the wristbands!) FOOD / DRINK There are food and drink stalls situated all around the park, there aren't any Burger Kings and Maccy D's though if thats what you're expecting! There are a few nice posher restaurants and then there is just many snack bars. All the shops are easy to notice! OVERALL Blackpool Pleasure Beach is brilliant! It's suitable for the family and groups of mates! It is a really great day but can all add up so watch where your money goes! The newer rides and attractions are a real experience and the older ones are fab too! The whole day is an
experience you won't forget, there is something for everyone! The rides, attractions, shows, arcades, beach and so on! The park is open until the 3rd of November this year and to find out anymore information you can phone: 0870 444 5566 or visit the website given below. The park itself opens at various times, we arrived at around 2pm and we thought the Big One was out of order because it wasn't going round, but infact the rides hadn't even started to go round yet! The whole park was up and running by half 2 though thank goodness! The park is open till late which makes the rides really cool! Rides tend to finish around tenish. Each day the park has an 'estimated' opening and closing time. As you can see this is very different to normal theme parks. Accesibility is simple. All the trams and buses pass the park and car parks are everywhere. On some rides you can buy souvenir photos of yourself, these are really great, we bought 3! They are priced at £4.50 each. You can also get keyrings of the picture for the same price. The parks website is really good, you can recieve money off tickets and there is a moving map of the park itself, there is also booking, hotel and venue info and show times. JoRowlingRocks - 05/04/04 GREAT REVIEW!
I went to Blackpool for the 27th time yesterday, I love it! I live 2 1/2 hours away but I have to go more than once a year, or I go mad. I went on the Pasaje del Terror for the first time, I'd never dared to before, and I have to agree, it's the scariest thing I've ever been on! I've never seen a grown man scream like the man in our group did, it was fantastic. The actors were really good, they looked just like their characters, which made it more scary, especially when Regan form the Exorcist touched me! In the last room just as I was going out I embarassed myself by noticing that the actor had a chainsaw, screaming my head off and nearly pushing the woman in front of me into one of the tables in the pub, but other than that the day was fantastic! You haven't lived until you've been to Blackpool, and you can't use the excuse that you don't like rollercoasters, there's plenty of other things to do at the Pleasure Beach or around Blackpool. Go now!!!!!
p.s. Vegas has nothing on Blackpool, it's not about the gambling, it's about the fun! |
