Advantages: being surrounded by sharks!
Disadvantages: kids will rush you !
The BLUE PLANET AQUARIUM is a fantastic place to visit this summer,(or in fact, anytime)Its aim is to take you on an intercontinental voyage of discovery, through the living waters of the world!! There are five themed areas, spread over two levels with interactive exhibits galore. There are regular shark and fish feeds, free face painting for the kids and an open pool area where you are encouraged to tickle the fish there!! You will find crocodiles(!), tree frogs and eels along with an abundance of information boards and lots of friendly staff. However, the Blue Planet's claim to fame just has to be their walkway through the middle of the main tank of fish!!The floor is solid, with a moving pathway as well to save your legs, and the only thing between you and the sharks, fish, beautiful coral and the divers is a 22cm thick acrylic wall, giving you an amazing panoramic view!! There are regular talks during the day, held by a member of staff, who will introduce the divers whilst in the tank and describe the largest sharks. The BLUE PLANET AQUARIUM is located on Longlooms Road, Ellesmere Port. Tel No. 0151 357 8800. The entry price of £22.50 remains the same whether you have 2,3 or 4 kids....good news for larger families! It is well worth a visit....very relaxing. Blue Planet have a cafe, toilets(lovely, clean condition!),baby changing areas and a fantastic gift shop. This sells items ranging from pocket money gifts eg:pencils, purses, brooches etc. to gorgeous but expensive looking carved dolphin statues!
