Advantages: Speed, Danger, Excitement, Thrills, Stomach Dropping Heart Stopping Fun

Disadvantages: Since it's on an island, it can't really *expand* much more,...Food /drink is expensive

I'm not sure if there is another place on earth that will ever compare to Cedar Point. That could be miscontrued as a broad and sweeping statement, but I literally feel it's very true. There is no place like Cedar Point.

Cedar Point is in the crazy little state I was born in called, Ohio. That's semi-cool to me right there, since I love anything in Ohio. The coolest of the cool, is that it's the world's greatest Amusement part. Ewww ! How typical American of me? To say " This and that is the world's GREATEST".

Except, this time, it's true. Just don't take my word for it. Google it. =)

*****Wow Cedar Point, I wish you weren't an Island*****

Who puts an amusement park on an Island??? (Coney Island, don''t respond to this). Well , apparently the town of Sandusky in Ohio thought it would just be this fantastic idea, and it is....in theory.

At least, it was a good theory back in the 1920's when Cedar Point was used as a "circus" type amusement park and assembly hall stadium ......with only a few thousand people in a one hour radius.

Fast Forward almost a hundred years and they've squeezed the space on that island for all it's worth. On one rollar coaster in fact, you'd think you going to fall into the sea. Long story short....yeah it's one jam packed Island off the coast of Lake Erie.

120 Miles away from Detroit
60 Miles away from Cleveland

I know there are some places with Roller Coasters in Europe and even in the UK. I'm sure they're loads of fun and yadda yadda....Which is good. Coasters are supposed to be "fun". I have a feeling though, that your version of fun would change when you have your stomach drop on;

10.) The Demon Drop:

This is old skool. I mean , I remember this when I was 7 yrs old sneaking onto it because there was a height restriction. The contruction of it was very simple. It's a 12 story tall ( about as tall as Big Ben???) metal structure with this open cage metal "elevator" type thing inside of it. Four people go inside, sit down on the seats, pull on the shoulder harnesses and click clack up allllllll the way to the top.

It then sits there at the top for what feels like EONS. You keep thinking " Ok.....you can drop now.....ok any day....ok please do it already your making me nervous!" Then, at that moment when you finally think "Wow maybe it's broken?", it drops you like a rock. We're talking a true drop as well. I can't give it too you in miles per hour, but you feel weightless for that hold 2 seconds of free fall drop time. I used to freaking LOVE that ride. Although now, it's not half as exciting and just more nostalgic.

9.) The Mean Streak:

The name of this Roller Coaster is pretty apropos. After you ride it, you might actually GET a slight mean streak because you rode it and pulled some important muscles.

This Coaster used to be the worlds, fastest, tallest, wooden ride back in "da day". Living in today's world, it's strange to think we would trust a roller coaster made out a "Wood". Yet, no one has huffed and puffed and blown this coaster down yet. It was created a few yrs before I was born (no i'm not telling you that), but it feels ANCIENT (no , I am NOT ancient myself).

On top of being this huge wooden monstrosity, the thing whips you around like your a ragdoll, shakes you like martini, and vibrates you like an earthquake.....in short, it's fun if you have the young body to take the abuse. Plus, there's no wait in line, you can get on right away. You gotta love not having to queue. =)

8.) Power Tower:

This is very similar to the number 10 ride, The Demon Drop. Only this is circa 1996 style instead of 1986. Yes, it's another drop-you-in-you-seat-free-faling-ride.

You have 12 people that sit in small chairs that sick out from a round metal pole. Your legs are dangling and there is no shoulder harness, just a very sturdy lap belt. Instead of being only 12 stories high though, this one is about 22 stories. You also have the chose of going "UP" instead of going down. This means the contraption shoots you up to the top as fast as possible without killing you. Although, I will say, most people still love the going down super fast option better. My beef on this one is that it is NOT fun to ride on a full stomach. If you get sick easy you'd hate this thing.

7.) The Twister:

This really should be more like a number 5 or higher even. Because this ride is freaking kick A**. The principle of it isn't a ride but it isn't a roller coaster either, it's a mix of the two. You sit down in seats like you do in a metal coaster. It then shoots you straight across the tracks at 0 to 60 miles in what feels like a second. Then the track after that second goes straight up , into a corkscrew in the air. After it touches the end of the corkscrew you go down backwards (just as fast mind you) , to the other side, that has the other corkscrew. You do this back and forth , straight and backwords twisting about 3 times on each corkscrew.

Oh and did I mention this is another newer coaster so your feet are dangling? In my mind, that makes them sooooo much more exciting. And, believe me, while your going face first down a corkscrew at god knows how fast, that's ultra exciting.

6.) The Magnum 2000:

The Magnum 2000 also held the world record for the tallest, fastest, longest, Metal coaster for a while in the 1980's/ 1990's ( I believe it opened in 1987). I remember riding this as a young teenager in the 90's thinking that it was just sooooo crazy dangerous. Riding it now, it's "fun" , but probably more the "fun" your accustomed to with European metal Roller Coasters.

The greatest part about this coaster is the location. Remember that part I told you about how this is on an island and on one ride you feel like your going to fall into the sea? Well, this is that ride. It's right ON the beach, which makes the ride instantly better. The other awesome thing about this ride is that it goes through a lot of tunnels. Don't ask me why but for some reason when your doing down a huge hill in a dark tunnel , it feels funner than going down a huge hill in broad daylight. =)

5.) The Drop Zone:

Ok ok this isn't a Roller Coaster. In fact, it's not even a RIDE. It even looks namby pamby when you see it. There is just this really really really tall metal arch with people that get pulled to the top of it in some harness then they get dropped and swing from it like a wimpy bungee jump.

Looks can be decieving. This is so scary I almost wet my pants, no word of a lie. From the ground you know it's tall, but when your up at the top of it, the people are ants. Not to mention that when you are "released" you swing like a pendolum, and could easily lose your supper. With all that involved though, it's still one of the funnest amusement part "experiences" i've had in my entire life. If you like bungee jumping , you'd love this.

4.) The Raptor:

This is my best friends fave coaster at the park, and up until I was about 23, this was my fave as well. This metal coaster was created in around 1995? 96? one of those mid-90's dates. At the time of inception, people could not get over how fun this ride was. They would wait in line for three hours, then gget on it and go back and wait in line again for 3 more hours. It was ridiculous, and ohhhh so worth it.

The ride is a little hard to describe but you are rather high off the ground (typical with all coasters) and are doing the legs dangling thing again. You have a shoulder harness and a lapbelt, yet you don't feel restricted, its very easy to move around with the harnesses on this ride. Since it's a suspended ride (it 's connected to the top , hence, why your legs dangle), it feels ....faster. Not only is it fast, but it's full of twists , turns, and upside down loopty loops. Everyone is smiling when they get off this ride. Even if you get sick on most coaster, I can guarentee you, you would NOT get sick on this ride. It's very very smooth, like a fine 15 yr scotch, only it's non-alcoholic. =)

3.) The Millienium Force:

Ok for some reason this is a LOT of peoples favorite ride. It's been around for about 6 yrs now, yet it still has insane wait times even on slow days. I feel like I had to put this as number 3 by "Force" , since everyone ewww's and ahhh's over this coaster. Personally, I'd have it up at number 6. I really have never seen the big deal about it.

In a few words, this coaster is almost just like the Magnum 2000, except faster, taller hills, smoother ride, and doesn't have the cool tunnels! I might like it a little better if they threw some tunnels in this. And that's all I have to say for this very overrated (in my opinion) ride.

2.) The Maverick:

I have a feeling that this summer when I go back to visit my family in Michigan....this might move to number one. It's that good. It's also a new ride and just opened last year.

The presentation of this roller coaster is cheesy as he**. They try to make it look all wild west and "country". As your waiting in line the first time to ride it your thinking to yourself and outloud
" Um , this ride is going to be dumb isn't it?".

I think it's because your sort of not knowing what to expect, that the ride surprizes you so much. Again there isn't an easy way to explain this ride. You start off going INCREDIBLY smoothly and INCREDIBLY FAST up and down several small hills. After about a minute of that you come to a stop in this lighted tunnel thing and it looks like your near the end of the ride sine well...it stopped. Your thinking " oh, well , that was actually a lot of fun!". And It WAS for that minute of small, very fast hills and turns. I mean the smoothness of it was eerie. You felt like you were gliding, not like you were in a machine. The next bit freaks you OUT.

As everyone is sitting in this tunnel waiting for it to go slowly back to the beginning for the next group of people. It starts to go backwards a little, but just a few feet which makes you crease your eyebrows a tad. Then....it shoots you like a bullet. And.....I mean....like....a.....bullet.

I don't do numbers well, but I thought someone said you go from 0 to 90 on this in just a few seconds. After it shoots you down this track, you still have nother two minutes of ride time left. It's this topsy turvy , twisty swirly, upside downy convuluted extra 2 minutes. And everyone on the entire ride is screaming and laughing in utter delight. That's what this ride is.....just off the charts....fun.

*Drum Roll Please*

1.) The Dragster:

This coaster is the only one at the amusement park that breaks down at least once or more a day. It's also the only coaster that has bleacher seats on the side of it so people can watch it by the dozens. As of 2005, it was still the fastest coaster in the world.

This coaster was created by aviation and jet propulsion engineers. That should give you a little understanding of what it's like. You start off on a flat track looking up to a MASSIVE track that goes up several hundred feet and back down several hundred feet in this type of upside down U or croquet looking arch. As your gearing up to go up this massive hill, and go down it as well, you don't realize just how fast your going to start off until the employees on the ride make it very apparent.

You can by no MEANS put your arms up in the air for the first take off portion of the ride. It literally can pull your arms out of their sockets. What i'm trying to explain here is that when you take off, your going from 0 to over 120 mph in the blink of an eye. It takes you off just like a fighter jet does. The reason it does that (for fun obviously), is because it has to get you UP that straight up and down hill. The reason it breaks DOWN so often is that the propulsion sometimes doesn't work right and isn't powerfull enough to get you up to that 120mph as fast as it should. This means that you don't "clear" the hill.

Yes, if you don't clear the top of the peak you come right back down ...backwards. Remember you shot up that hill going around 120 from the start. When you get to the top and just barley miss getting to the arch portion, you go right back down the hill feeling like it was just as fast as when you took off. Plus, it's scary as you know what. I've only had it happen to me once (and we got a free re-try of course), but several peole were freaking out and had to be taken off the ride.

On a good day when it DOES clear the crest of the hill , it takes you up to the arch portion and then right back down the other side on a perfect 90 degree straight down angle. That part is almost as fun as the taking off at 120mph part.

All in all this ride lasts about 30 seconds. But, it's 30 seconds of pure , adrenline, excitment, exhileration, and wonder. If this ride is ever 1 hr or less to wait in line, I just ride it over and over again for at least 4 hrs straight. I love it that much. To me, this ride, is worth the entire TRIP.

Ok well it's late here, and I really don't have the stamina to go into several other awesome factoids and discoveries into the rest of CP (Cedar Point). I will hit this review back up again though and add more to it when I get the chance. =)
