Advantages: something for almost everyone, zoo and sealife centre
Disadvantages: queues at peak seasons
Ive loved Chessington World of Adventures for years (im 29 now and still go every year!)
The theme park comprises of a smallish zoo and a typical theme park, there is something for all ages apart from perhaps the teenage thrillseekers, as most of the rides are abit more sedate then most.
The zoo is very nicely done, and all the animals look contented in their surroundings, the last time i was there, the tigers had cubs, which was very very sweet to see. The zoo has all the basic animals, tigers, lions, monkeys etc. The meercat exhibit is very clever as you can go through tunnels and actually be inside the enclosure (still under perpex!) so the meercats can be right next to you, with just a thin sheet of perpex between them and you. There is also a small petting zoo, where you can meet the animals and on my visit i was able to stroke several goats. There is also a reptile house. The highlights of the Zoo for me are the penguins (which for a supplement you can actually pay to feed-i did this and it was a short but unforgetable experiance.) and the sealion shows.
As for the theme park, the bigger rides are-Rameses Revenge (in my opinion the worst ride in the park (or the best if you love thrill rides) expect to get very very wet if your in the centre seats. The Vampire, this is my favourite ride in the park and not particulary scary, Dragons Falls is an excellent log flume ride and not as scary as it looks, The Rattlesnake is a good ride, but is very very bumpy and jolty and it is easy to bang yourself, Dragons Fury is a typical wild mouse rollercoaster ride, but the car you are in spins independantly as you go around the track, i personally dont like this ride, as i dont like the spinning.
There is several smaller and tamer rides and attractions, such as the Runaway train, berry bouncers, dodgems, tomb blasters, and the bubbleworks-great fun on a hot day!
The sealife centre had just opened when i last visited and was well worth a look, although the queues built quickly.
Top tip-if you can, go out of season as the queues are much shorter and it is generally a more pleasent experince.
Summary: Definately worth a visit for everyone

- 21/01/09 Id say yes, but the 18 and 15 year olds might not enjoy it too much if there more into big thrills. The zoo though adds extra interest for any animal lovers. |
