Introduction
Orlando is one of the most wonderful cities in the world. It is situated in central Florida and is probably most famous for Disney World. However, this is not the only attraction in this magical urban city. Throughout this guide book I am going to go through basically all and everything about Orlando, from the magical beaches which surround the coast to all the fabulous festivals running through all parts of Orlando. I hope that once you have read this guide book, you will be persuaded to go on the fantastic trip to Orlando!
Theme Parks
Orlando's theme parks are literally second to none. Disney World is undoubtedly the main attraction, but also the likes of Universal Studios, Sea World, Islands of Adventure and Discovery Cove are just a fraction of no-ending lists of theme parks which you can enjoy in Orlando. On offer are the high-voltage excitement of rides - including roller coasters, flume rides and simulators. The thrill of animal encounters and Space Age attractions, the magic of fairy-tales and the movies are just a tiny part of what you can experience through the whole of Orlando. Also, the visual extravaganza of parades and fireworks, and much, much more! These theme parks all take fun to a completely different level.
Probably the most widely visited theme park at Disney is Magic Kingdom. At night time especially, Magic Kingdom is a sight to behold, and a memory you would treasure forever! The fireworks are incredible dazzling displays are set against the superb setting of Cinderella's castle which make the fireworks at Magic Kingdom difficult to beat! The parades which run through Magic Kingdom are possibly the biggest and best in the world! They run along the main street during the afternoons and evenings and are totally spectacular affairs, which feature grandiose floats, with colourfully clad Disney characters and astonishing special effects. The thrill of the rides at Magic Kingdom are unquestionably not as great as the legacy of the place, but certainly do not underestimate any of the rides at this place. Seven lands of fantasy and adventure encircle the stunningly beautiful Cinderella's Castle, and each and every land has something different to offer for you to enjoy. Two attractions which will help to get your brain whizzing, heart throbbing and nerves jangling will be the ever popular log flume, Splash Mountain and the careening Big Thunder Railroad. The Kingdom is very child and family friendly. There are plenty of rides which can be enjoyed by young ones, (a large area called Fantasy Land, built purely for the children). Finally, boat cruises across the fabulous river and enjoyable boat rides can be appreciated by the family.
Another incredibly famous park in Disney is Epcot. Famed for its incredible Spaceship Earth in the centre of the park measuring 180ft in height, Epcot will never be left by any person who has not enjoyed their day there. The 250-acre park is divided into two distinct halves: Future World, with an emphasis on entertainment and education; and also World Showcase, which represents the art, culture, and culinary expertise of different countries around the globe. As you enter the turnstiles, the scenery will immediately catch your eye. To go with the fantastic, humongous sized, golf ball shaped object, which encloses Spaceship Earth are some of the most fantastically grown trees and most wonderful, manmade objects you could every wish to see! Outside, one of the most famous attractions at Epcot, Space Mission, which is an unbelievably realistic simulator, which makes you really feel as if you are on Mars, is a fantastic replica of the Universe's planets, costing over $2m to build is another one of the fantastic elements which make Epcot so incredible. As for the main rides, despite not been altogether as thrilling as some of the other Disney theme parks, do not undervalue the incredible thrill you get when going on the likes of Maelstrom, The Living Seas, Spaceship Earth, Body Wars, and many, many more! Undoubtedly however, the best ride at Epcot is Test Track. It uses the most sophisticated ride vehicle technology possibly imaginable, placing you in a simulator that moves on tracks at high speeds. There is not better feeling you could ever experience than soaring down the Test Track home straight on and blusteringly windy day at speeds at excess of 78mph! Your breath will be taken away and you will be able to savour the moment for a couple of magical seconds! However, whatever happens, Epcot will never be famous for any great ride of particularly special attraction, its legacy will be for the World Showcase, which truly is, totally unique. The temples, churches, town halls and castles of these eleven pavilions or 'countries' are sometimes replicas of genuine buildings, occasionally merely in vernacular style, But World Showcase is much more than just a series of architectural set pieces. Every pavilion is staffed by people from the country it represents, selling high-quality local products as well as surprisingly good ethnic cuisine! Each of the eleven countries are absolutely unique in what they have to offer. World Showcase is an experience you will never forget!
If Magic Kingdom and Epcot weren't famed for any fabulous attraction, MGM Studios is completely different! Rather than focusing on any particular educational tours of galleries, MGM Studios is a theme park which lets you go on ride after ride to be totally enjoyed! The famous Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was rated the best rollercoaster in the world for 2006 (certainly not an un-due reward), which shows you the magnitude of what can be appreciated at MGM. An extraordinary indoor extravaganza, the Rock 'n' Roller coaster ride starts in truly breathtaking fashion, the stretched limo like cart your ride takes place in, bursts from 0 to 60mph in a mesmerising 2.2 seconds, making you feel as if you left your body in the waiting line! That however, is not the end of the thrill; you continue along your journey, replete with loops, steep drops and corkscrew spins. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster employs a fully synchronized and utterly deafening soundtrack of the popular American Band, 'Aerosmith', which just adds more to the incredible 'wow' factor of this stunning ride! And if you think that ride will be good, just wait until you set foot onto the waiting line of Tower of Terror! This truly terrifying ride straps you into a runaway service elevator for an incredible voyage inspired by the 1950s TV show, 'The Twilight Zone'. After the slightly tame pre-show, you enter what appears to be a boiler room of a hotel and you walkthrough to board the freight elevators fitted with plank seats. There surely can't be anything more frightening, yet wonderful than what happens next. An unbelievable, an awesome thirteen story drop takes you right down to the bottom of the tower, (enormously powerful engines have been added to this ride so that the lift takes you down faster than free fall!) you then go up and down at an incredible rate, holding on for dear life, this ride finishes with yet another plummeting thirteen story drop! Terrifyingly brilliant, this ride is a technological masterpiece! And if those two rides weren't enough for you, there are plenty more to enjoy at MGM Studios! The likes of Fantasmic, Star Tours and Catastrophe Canyon are totally underestimated because of these two rides! Also, a must visit, is the show, aimed for kids, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, which will certainly be enjoyed by the whole family! You get the chance to experience a fantastically unique, Who wants to be a Millionaire - Play it! And finally, make sure you get along to watch the fantastic new show, Light, Camera, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, which features special cars, motorcycles and jet skies. Undoubtedly, it would be a massive mistake if you missed out on experiencing the truly marvellous MGM Studios!
Animal Kingdom is a magical park, which will be enjoyed by everyone who visits it. You leave this fantastic park with your head much more packed with fascinating information and your experiences far in advance of what they were before you entered. There is no doubt that the safari you can go on at Animal Kingdom is probably only lagging behind ones in the likes of South Africa. The range of animals you can see, the time and freedom you can spend watching them and the distance you can get away from them makes this experience absolutely immense! Having been able to experience this awesome safari, you may not be able to believe that anything possibly could beat it! Well, there certainly is, the Festival of the Lion King, is hands-down the finest live-action show in Orlando, possibly, even probably in the whole of America! It encourages singing, cheering, and even, crying! This show is just mesmerising, exceptionally well choreographed and costumed; this colourful spectacle is one of the most elaborate shows seen on the planet! The brilliant theatre is fantastically comfortable, which adds even more to the experience, making, the Festival of the Lion King a real 'must see'! Other attractions and rides which must be experienced at Animal Kingdom are, Primeval Whirl, and finally Kali River Rapids, which offers you a chance to cap off your day at Animal Kingdom in fitting style, literally completely drenching you from top to bottom! This short ride presents some of the most striking and detailed surroundings in the park.
Summary: To be enjoyed by everyone!
